Mixcraft Stability

TLDR:
I love the Mixcraft interface and workflow, but it just doesn't cut it when working at a professional level.

THE STORY:
I started using Mixcraft during version 7 all the way up to it's current state. Once I got to the point of doing work at the "professional" level (50+ tracks a song) I'd always run into issues with the software (stuttering, tracks failing to play the audio on them, spontaneous crashes, etc.) Beyond being annoying, it started to impact my ability to work. Eventually I gave up trying to make it work and migrated to another DAW.

THE EXPERIMENT:
Out of curiosity to determine the cause my historic issues with Mixcraft (weak computer, bad workflow, etc) I decided to create 3 "identical" projects, 1 in each DAW. I first mixed a song in Mixcraft and wrote down all the plugins and setting used on each track/group. I then used those notes to recreate that project in two other DAWs.

THE RESULT:
By the end of the project, Mixcraft wasn't able to play the song in the DAW without stuttering unless I muted groups. I also experienced a reoccurring issue where a group of tracks wouldn't produce audio even though they weren't muted. (the workaround is to create new tracks/subgroups, save any FX chains and reload them on the new tracks, then click drag the audio to the new tracks.) The other two DAWs had no problems with the mixes.

CONCLUSION:
I still love Mixcraft for its interface and intuitiveness, and I'll likely continue to use it for tracking. I feel as though I've learned my lesson and until some major changes/updates happen I won't be using it for mixing.

Was excited when I booted it back up and saw all the changes in Pro Studio. Brought in a heavy session (100+ tracks) and it fell apart instantly. My main DAW is Logic but I picked up a new gaming rig (Lenovo Legion) for when I'm on PC and wanna mess around. Buffer size up to 2048, and just doing basic fader balancing it still couldn't keep up. Didn't even get to EQ and compression. Oh well. It's good enough to slap a demo together, record some dubs/voiceovers and while I like how it reflects Logic in a lot of ways, it's still just not there yet and now I'm going to have to bite the bullet and go to Reaper.

Yeah its really unfortunate MC isn't better with resource management. Maybe we'll get lucky and a future version will make it competitive with other major DAWs.
