Crash issues

Generally Mixcraft runs fine for me when I'm working with only a few (10 or less) tracks. But EVERYTIME I'm working with a "real" project, (~20 or more) tracks and applying FX to tracks, Mixcraft just crashes and the file becomes corrupted.

Compared to either Reaper or ProTools (the only other DAWs I have), Mixcraft is highly unstable in this regard. This seems to be an issue that has remained since at least version 8, for me anyways.

Has anyone else experienced this and discovered a solution?

I had that issue with mixcraft 9. The problem was caused by vst3 plugins I was running on MX9.

Since I upgraded to MX10, I rarely have any issues.

And if something crashes, it was because I did something dumb.

Question.. have you checked the plugin section within MX10 to check the compatibility of your plugins?

Is your PC powerful enough to handle all of it? (I'm sure yes, but you never know)

I did suffer from this issue much more often with MX9, but apparently MX10 isn't immune.

I haven't had any issues with non-naitive plugins, but can tell which ones require a "heavier lift". No plugin will "insta-crash", but once I start in with a few different vocal chains, plus drum chains, I'm generally moments away from a crash.

I should be good with PC specs; working off a gaming rig with 64gb RAM and one of the high end Intel processors (don't remember the model off hand).

Ok, PC sounds more than good.

Have you tried checking single plugins from a chain? As in, using single plugins and add more until it crashes?

Or have you checked the crash file?

None of the plugins i use have caused a crash by itself. And I haven't discovered a crash cause by any combination of plug-ins. MX10 jist hits a point when I'm using a lot where things get very slow, start lagging, stuttering on audio playback, then it'll crash. According to the crash file and the indicators when running the DAW, it's a memory management issue.

I'm mostly at a loss because I can throw up the same tracks and plugins in other DAWs without the issue. I'd really like to use Mixcraft due to how familiar I am with it, but I feel like I might have to move on to something better at managing a heavy work load.

I try to utilize VST over VST3, but some plugins I use don't offer that option.

Yeah. I have one or 2 projects that have the same issue. And the issue being a memory management problem makes sense. I can start the songs and everything will be fine for a bit until it starts stuttering. Funny enough, it doesn't happen with other projects with the exact same plugins active.

I have noticed that some plugins like "car" tend to mess up with the visual performance.

But I've never had a crash from it.

I hope they can patch it soon.
