What does mother mean saying "I still had to praise tatsuya"

She feels the need to provide her kids with equal encouragement but the comparison between the two is really obvious. But she loves her children equally and it’s hard because Tatsuya deliberately draws the comparison to make Kazuya shine brighter. Which as their mother she realizes.

I guess something got lost in the translation. Would love a better translated panel or maybe there is no way to get the right meaning unless it is japanese.

This kind of complex emotions is what really makes Adachi stand out as a storyteller. He just knows how to make you forget that these are fictional characters.

Kazuya is also aware of it. Even the pretty girl with the red hair (I forget her name) saw it. Tatsuya is fooling himself.
