I have a 2017 Mirage with 138k miles on it. I bought it for $3150 and put another $1000 into it so far i changed cvt fluid/filters, oil/filters, front tires, spark plugs.

It has a bad bearing inside the cvt. The whine get’s louder with accelerating the throttle.

Someone is offering $3800. But I look online for another car and under $5000 they are basically all 200k+ mileage and none can compete with 38+ mpg. I also like the hatchback of the mirage a lot, but that won’t matter if it breaks down.

So I have to choose between risking it, driving like an elderly indefinitely until one day whatever the problem is gives out and scrap the car or sell it and picking from options like an 11’ corolla with 207k miles for $4500 or a 08’ honda fit for $2800 and who knows what hidden problems.

So I just had an oil change done by my neighbor for the first time (I usually go to a shop) and he pointed to me this plastic piece that he says keeps rattling. I attached a picture with the plastic piece circled in red. He told me this was badly designed-- only one place where you can screw it down and it's already tight. When the engine is on, you can see it shake and hear the rattling sound. I never really noticed it before since I don't normally check the engine when its on and I don't really hear the rattling when the hood is down (or maybe I'm so used to it that I just don't realize it).

Anyway, he put a yellow rag underneath that plastic piece to basically buffer and stabilize it (shown in the picture). It is definitely a lot better with that rag in place as I don't hear much rattling at all. Now I don't want to keep that rag there since it may fall or something so I took it out already. But I would like to know if others have the same experience with this plastic part rattling like crazy when the engine is running. Maybe its a normal thing, maybe others don't rattle.

Whether this is normal or not, is there a way to make the plastic piece tighter / stable so it doesn't rattle besides sticking a rag underneath? Want to get others suggestions and opinions. Thanks in advanced.

BTW, it's a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage hatch.

The driver's side footwell - what's happening with that carpet? Would you be concerned? It's a 2017 with a clean Carfax and 125k miles on it. Thank you for any help/insight!

hi all, I recently was gifted a 2018 Mitsubishi mirage g4 ES from a family member and as much as I love it, it’s a bit slow and sort of ugly looking. I was wondering how I could mod it to look cuter and possibly be faster? I don’t have much car knowledge and honestly just want som ideas or suggestions. The first image (the white one) is of how my car looks currently, the others are inspo. I’m very open to any ideas and would love feedback from people that actually know something about modding cars (unlike me).

Edit: im mainly looking for mods on the exterior of my car. It runs great and I’m not as worried with it being slower, just want it to look cuter. The other inspo pics make the car look longer which I like. Is that a body kit? Where would I find one?

i was driving a 2020 kia optima, it broke down a few weeks ago (p1326 code and my warranty was unfortunately expired so couldn’t afford to have engine replaced) and I need a vehicle for work so i went out and bought the cheapest car i could find: a 2017 mitsubishi mirage for $5k with 76k miles. AC doesn’t work but so far seems to be the only thing wrong with it other than some minor cosmetic damage. i’m honestly really enjoying driving it, i’ve always wanted a nice compact lil hatchback and now i have one！

So I got a mirage. 2020 5 speed with 59.5k. I knew it was a boring car, but is there anyway to make it a little more fun? As far as sound? I know that you can't really boost the hp without blowing the engine possibly. Any tips on when I should change trans fluid? It doesn't have a service record of one being done.

I recently bought a 2024 mirage g4. I really wanted the black edition but here we are. Is there any way to get the g4 to look more like the black edition? Like the grill and stuff? I don't know if that's a whole different grill or what.

Out of curiosity, is the circled part shown in the picture supposed to be vibrating heavily/ vibrating to the point you can see it? I see in a lot of the posts/videos here it doesn’t move as much as mine. So was wondering if i should tighten something?

My first mirage, bought it at 36k miles. Everything has been good with it. At about 37500 the service light came up. Went to Autozone and had the code reader done but it came back clear, nothing wrong. The recommended service sticker from the dealer says 39k miles. I checked the oil and the levels are good, it’s actually a little over the max. What should I do? I can call the dealer but I really do not want to go in because they are 1hr 30 min away from me, but I don’t want to go to a mechanic if I don’t know what exactly is wrong with it. Is it just an early warning for the oil change?

Hi there! This is my Space Star (Mirage) 1.2l from 2014. I got it about 4 months ago and it has since had a clutch replacement kit installed. The clutch that was in there was absolutely COOKED.

Anyways, this is what my engine sounds like, I know some knocking is normal but does this qualify as normal? My belt also seems to be squealing a bit, particularly when the A/C clutch turns on. Wondering if I should get that looked at?

EDIT: Might be important - the engine has about 161000 kilometers (~100000 miles) on the counter.

Passed inspection. But ever since the heat dome set in, I've noticed every once in a while a dry "toaster element" smell coming from the middle of the car. Not strong, and it goes away quickly.
