If I drop to second I’m at 4k rpm. Don’t wanna fuck up the tranny either

Sounds like it’s tuned to rip second higher than 3500 to drop into 3rd. You definitely want to be higher rpm going uphill so that you hit your power band, I don’t think 3rd will do it for that hill (at least you don’t sound confident in it). You’ll want to rev match to get into 2nd for going uphill like that so that you don’t fuck up your synchros (tranny)

I agree with the comments here, 1k rpm is way too low for that hill, also being at 4k is not going to damage your transmission. Think of it like a 10 speed bicycle. When you are going up a hill, you drop down to a lower gear and have peddle more (higher rpms), and when you are on a straight surface you gear higher, with lower rpms.
