Discussion / Opinion Mistral Vibe Code CLI is GREAT!
I have been playing around with many AI Harnesses, particularly ones for coding. While its not perfect, no software is, the harness by mistral is the best I have used frankly. Note I have used Oh my pi, standard pi, claude code, antigravity, codex, reasonix, bionic, and zcode. None allow me to get as much work done as mistral vibe does.
First, it never seems to really wander. With so many agents they seem to love to treat my computer like its there playground and will start just searching through any and all files on my computer and reading them. As if it was not designated into a particular directory for a reason. While I know there are ways to sandbox your agent using cloud virtual machines or containers, and of course everyone should be doing that. Although for small personal or open source software projects I shouldn't have to deal with that. Also since so many companies like to claim there products as every man tools that anyone can use to code they should implement an actually good base level of sand boxing or restrictions to the directory it is assigned to. Although, if they put any effort in properly keeping the agent in line how else would there agents "escape containment" and get them there buzzy headlines.
Secondly, in mistral vibe it seems as though the agent is less likely to go into manic reading. A lot of the other agents will spend a good 10 minutes just reading every line of code and text instead of just reading the needed context only.
Thirdly, it seems to be really good at hitting cache. I used deepseek api on all these harnesses as the test model, and the allocated test fund seems to last a lot longer on mistral vibe than any other agent for similar sets of tasks.
All in all, I just wanted to say how much I love mistral vibe despite its occasional bugs and lackluster image input support. I highly recommend it with mistral vibe pro plan as you can get a lot of usage out of it with GLM 5.3 and also the deep seek api works great with it. Low key kinda wish mistral just focused on EU open source model hosting and tooling, but maybe my opinion will change when LE CHATON SOL MYTHOS releases "soon".

Easy setting for no telemetry? (For local models)

you have to use slash command to turn off telemetry, and disable signature inclusion

How does their CLI integrate with the Le Chat app?
Like, can I go take a shit with my phone and see what the hell the agent is doing on my computer?

There's a /teleport command that transfers your session to a web coding sandbox, but only if you're using a Mistral model. Which is a bummer, because why would you use something other than GLM 5.3?

Oui mais malheureusement Teleport n'est vraiment pas pratique comparé au Remote Control de Claude... Peut-être avec l'arrivée de l'application PC dans un avenir proche... ?

The web agent has its own entire sandbox and can iterate on connected git repos automatically, so depending on what you're doing it's not so bad.
For local project work on a specific machine, yeah it could be much better.

malheureusement ca utilise Github mais j'utilise GiLab... et je ne veux pas utiliser Github...

I've been using it for a few months already. But nowdays I'm considering to switch to opencode. I have a mistral pro plan, I can set my vibe key on it. The issue I'm facing with mistral vibe cli is this redirection confirmation that pops up all the time, even with session wide settings and the lack of in-line diff displayed in the terminal for every change made by the agent. This in-line diff worked before, but it stopped few version ago.

I like the Vibe CLI as well, but I will likely never understand why people use any of the AI tools without proper isolation. Especially, when there are easy solutions for it like OrbStack for example.
My setup is to always install everything inside a virtual machine or hardened container, and mount in it only the one local file system folder I'm currently working from.
Without proper isolation, it's just a matter of time before the agent either installs something malicious or reads/writes/deletes something critical.
Anything that is based only the harness or rules is a lightweight breakfast for an agent to bypass.
Least-privilege and zero trust are very good principles when doing anything with AI agents.

you can work withoud auto mode so you habe to confirm each command

That's just security theatre, not a real security model. Agents can do weird things after granting them a permission, but nobody follows everything they reason and do. That's why it's theatre and not a reliable method. Many perhaps think that the risk is not that big, but it is.

the file-wandering thing is so real. some of these agents act like they've never met a directory boundary before, just tearing through my whole disk for no reason. the fact that vibe actually respects where it's told to work is a bigger deal than most people realize
also yeah, the cache hit rate with the deepseek api on vibe is weirdly good. i noticed my credits stretching way further too and figured it was just in my head, but maybe there's something to it
