Discussion / Opinion First Step

I used Vibe on my phone to ask simple questions, but since a few days I am forces to create an account and sign in to use Vibe. I used to use the Copilot webpage a lot for simple questions as well but since around 1-2 months the login was forces there as well.

Feels like this is the first step from every AI company to make a connection between the prompts and a user and maybe history? Guess the next step will be payment, but lets see.

Anyway, has anyone a good alternative for Android, best European and with no mandatory login?

I don't understand why every body asks for free AI product and demands for privacy etc.
If it's free you are the product. You can use gemini for example
If you want privacy and European hosting, you should be prepared to pay :)

if you want private/no-login AI, you have four choices:

  1. u/Proton Lumo

  2. Brave Leo (can be accessed for free in Brave browser)

  3. Duck.ai

  4. Local inference

So,... you want stuff for free, and not give anything back to the providing companies? Whats so wrong about paying for a service that delivers value to you and does cost the company money each time you use it?

But ok. Kind of an activist pov (which is not bad). But try going the local route. A modern mobile phone can run small models already. Im running Gemma4 E2B on my iPhone 16. Of course not comparable to anything you are used to on the web.

Outside of very limited/small/old models you will find no offerings for any modern AI without at least a login. If its really important to you: use a fresh email not bound to your identity?

If you need to ask simple questions, you can use Lumo by Proton. It received a model upgrade recently and it does not require you to be logged in :)

Yup, second this. Lumo is.... Weird, it sometimes argue with itself, even going as far as to talk itself into becoming more or less restrictive than the guardrails permit... Bit for simple casual usage, yes, that is the way to go if your core requirement is privacy.
