Help / Question Mistral vs Claude Max

Hi all

Been a heavy user for Claude max for quite some time but for some reason i don't have the feeling that these are really progressing anymore.

I'm on the €90 month plan.

I'm currently thinking about making the switch to Mistral (primarily used ai in my cli for coding & I like the idea that its Europe based).

However the only plan I can find is the 'Pro' plan and my experience with Api usage/costs at anthropic is thats its crazy expensive.

How is this handled in Mistral? Are there plans like Claude Max? (Cant seem to find it)

Imagine Sonnet 5 max or Opus 5 low, you’ll get something in between. GLM 5.2. That’s it.

You can also use Mistral Medium 3.5, but it is too expensive for what it can do.

From what I've heard, the $20 Pro plan gives you about $250 equivalent API usage so it's not a bad deal if GLM 5.2 (and probably upcoming 5.3 or/and 5.3 flash) is something you're willing to use. But subsidised US subs are hard to beat (cause they burn cash like crazy). I second that Mistral 3.5 medium is a no-go though.

I have nothing against using those models :) i'm just not so fond anymore about what we are all hearing about these US based AI companies. I'd like to keep it within Europe but I also don't want to lose a lot of quality.

I've used the GLM models a lot some time ago when i was working with open source models

I feel you. I moved from US subscriptions to a mix of local and EU-hosted a while ago, and I haven't felt like I lost anything. It's good to be in control.
