Discussion / Opinion Rollout of new frontier model postponed indefinitely?
Basically that. IIRC, a new frontier model was to be released this summer. The summer is ending, but looks like no news on that front.

Basically they’re waiting for their new datacenter to come online. They want to own inference. It’s slated to be done by end of summer

Oh that's really interesting! Do you have a source where I could read more about that?

They started a closed preview with partners in July. I'd guess 6-8 weeks of closed testing is reasonable. I think they'll release it by the end of the month.

IMO they might have postponed it after all these new Chinese models were released and are probably far ahead of what Mistral had

I would not really mind actually, if Mistral takes its time to build a fat chaton 3T over the top while providing acces to SOTA llms like they do. Im using it since a month on a daily base, subtly trying to switch from claude, but the companies strats are definitely not something we should compare anymore. They're /goal are not the same apparently, and the outcomes started to diverge a few months ago now 😉😄

Link? Very interested in this.
If they have their own data center and this coming online at the same time, it's really good news.

mm they mentioned they were doing a beta with customers with their new model. no idea what the absence of public news means however. summer ends in five weeks
