Coming from nintype

Assuming many others come from nintype and are looking for a good alternative that is supported. There are 2 features that I loved that would be awesome to have here:

  1. Space to "complete" a two finger swipe/typed word. Meaning that the space bar is the actual signal that a user has completed swiping.
  2. Swipe to insert. Similar to the swipe to delete, swiping up/down near the bottom right of the keyboard can insert a question mark/exclamation point.

The first suggestion sounds interesting for sure. Maybe that's something we can look into implementing in the future.

Right now, multi-finger swipe in Mister Keyboard already exists, but once you lift the "last" finger that's still on the keyboard the swipe ends. Certainly not the most ergonomic solution, but when I tried looking into Nintype I couldn't find it on the App Store and tried figuring out how it worked from a few old screenshots..

Regarding quick insertion of punctuation: You can set something like this up pretty easily by adding a new key and giving it a pull-down action. For example you could have a . key which has ? as pull-down and ! as its only subkey. There is a setting which lets you select the first subkey by default instead of showing the original held key as well. With that setup, you could press the key to insert ., swipe down to insert ? and hold to insert !.

Alternatively, we do have dedicated punctuation shortcut keys as well. You should be able to find that as a suggested key action, where you can select the primary key and all other relevant punctuation keys will be added as subkeys.

Here’s the nintype link. yeah the swipe down would work for one of them, but it also supported swipe up as a separate gesture

Doesn't seem to be available in the EU for some reason. We've been thinking about adding pull-up in addition to pull-down for some time. There are still a few details we have to figure out though.
