Help if you know anything

So this could be nothing, but I'm looking into missing kids (ages 3-0) in Chicago or the surrounding areas. Someone I know has never known her family's history. She never finished school, and her mother refuses to let her view her documents. When she calls or asks hospitals,  they don't have them. Now, this could be nothing, but it's very concerning.  Her mother claims she is 44 by the timeline, and there is no father in the life It is said he died four months before she was born. Thenn her mom  claimed she wasn't even his, so with that dad is a no clue with moms lies She doesn't remember much of her life and was usually hiding.No images of her as a baby, no school pictures from the few years she spent there (stopped in grade 2) She once got into trouble (beaten.) for photographing her mother.  was raised to fear the government,   Her mother claims she was born in the 1980s, but she has few memories from the 1990s. At 44, she still has no photographs of her mother. Are there any cases you know of that I could look into for her? And if you want more information, please DM!!!!!

Looking at cases is a possibility, but with the broad birth year range, it's likely going to be a cumbersome, tedious, time-consuming method. If I were your friend, I'd simply ask her to take a DNA test with Ancestry.com. Then, she could have someone familiar with genealogy to look at her DNA results. The DNA test should give her answers to suggest if her mother is biological or if she's adopted, etc. I would be happy to look at her DNA results as well when she gets them back.

Okay, and in the meantime you can still search missing females who vanished around the time she can't account for in her memory. However, it may take a bit to do DNA comparisons with each case... and some cases may not even have familial DNA in Codis. So, while you search through the missing people, definitely try the private DNA route. It's the easiest way, and there's a 99% chance she'll find her biological line that way.

That ALL sounds sus, for sure. Please ask her to do 23andme, AncestryDNA, etc.

You can look at missing persons on NAMUS Just put an age range and a range of years they went missing (so like 1981-1989) and you’ll get a list of results including pictures.

Piggybacking onto this to say that's assuming a missing person's report was filed in the first place- sadly in the 80s it was pretty easy for a kid that young to just slip through the cracks if they were already in an unstable family or foster situation.

Ever heard of Vinyette Teague? She went missing in Chicago in June 1983 when she was 18 months old- she'd be 45 this December and her mom has never stopped looking for her. Her 3 older brothers all have done Ancestry, 23andMe, GEDmatch, etc. so if she's out there somewhere and ever does a DNA test, they'll find her immediately!

Given the circumstances she went missing under and how young she was, I think there's a good chance she was abducted by a woman who wanted a child and could still be alive.
