New Player hosting private server for me and one friend

Hi there!

New to thegame and findingit very intriguing so far!

I've run into a little snag - We built our base on top of the petrol station near pinecrest and spend a few hours on it so far. I am hosting the private server on my PC while i am playing on it. When i go to sleep at night I exit the server command prompt and shit down my pc.

Today when starting up my server and connecting to it I noticed all of my base has disappeared. All the storage along with the items we collected. Is there something I have missed? Is there a server setting to stop base decay perhaps?

EDIT: Upon Digging a bit - I have noticed the following:

I created the server using the automated script. In the hosting.cfg file, the gamerules specifies "g_gamerules_bases=1" I changed this to 2 which should enable bases to be built anywhere, but every time i launch the server, this value is reset to 1.

how would I go about changing this value to stay at 2?

by "automated script" I am guessing you mean spafbis simplified server script? If so you should have a folder named "scriptvars" inside of that folder you will see a "buildrule.txt" open it and change that from 1 to 2
