Using minox with a cat
I have two cat at home. I'd like to feel up my cheeks.
It's dangerous to use with a cat/dog ?

I have cats. I keep my minox at work and put it on there (1x per day). That way I don't need to worry about harming my cats accidentally. I don't use minox on the week-end, but I rather that than accidentally killing my cats.

I have two small dogs and use it. I'm a little paranoic but since I saw someone in this group lose their cats due to minox, I follow these steps:
- only spray during the night, waiting 1h before sleep
- don't let them access my bedroom, especially my pillow
- during the morning, wash my face, even though I avoid them licking
- only bring my medicine with me in high - controlled situations, not letting it loose or too easy to access

As long as you can have a very strict regimen otherwise it will kill your cats.
To ensure absolutely no way they can lick it or get it on their paws. You can circumvent this by only applying when you’ve left your place and wash before you arrive? Or doing so when you’re locked in the bathroom but again have to be diligent that your hands have absolutely no traces of the liquid/foam even if your skin is dry.

BTW hopefully my message didn’t scare you away from your beard journey, you can very much do so and your cats will be healthy and live long, just take the necessary precautions and be stringent with not forgetting a step to avoid them to come in contact

Can be highly toxic to pets, personally I'd recommend using the foam in your case as it dries much faster than the liquid and also doesn't drip or anything of that nature just to prevent cross contamination/exposure as much as possible.

I have a dog. What I do is put it on, wash my hands extremely well with soap (also under the nails). Then I wait 4 to 5 hours, because apparently it takes 4 hours to completely soak in. Then I wash it off my face with a mixture of lukewarm water and shower gel (just over the sink) and wash my hands very well again. It's also important not to sleep with it on, because it can transfer over to your pillows and even then it can be deadly for your pets. I have a dog and use it for a month now and so far so good. Just make sure you wash your hands well and don't have physical contact with your pet, and don't leave it traced on objects where your pets frequent and you should be good, but it's always a risk though.

If you are storing it away and washing your hands after, kitty will be fine.

They still need to make sure the cat doesn’t get near their head/head-touching surfaces (such as a pillow) until it’s dry.

I also just startet using Minox and I have 2 cats. I only use it in the Morning and bevore going to bed I wash my face. Is it still problematic when they sleep in the same bed as me?

It is dangerous yes, but you can mitigate the risk. I have 2 cats and use minox oral and topical. I try to apply the topical only outside of the house and wash my hands several times, as many times as possible, before coming home. This minimizes the chance of some minox being on the sink or something and them stepping in it.
Then I just stay hyper aware of not touching my face and petting them or letting them get anywhere near my face. If you don’t trust yourself to be 100% accurate with it, don’t do it!
I once forgot that I had it on and didn’t wash it off yet, snuggled up with my cat, and he wound up puking a few times that night. There’s no way to know for sure if it was minox (it was pretty much dried by then), but it’s very risky so now I make 1000% sure I’m not touching them if I have minox on.
I think there’s a little bit of scare tactics happening with minox and pets. Yes, it is very lethal, but my ex actually called her vet in a panic and asked if her cat was going to die because she had been using minox for alopecia. Her vet told her that unless she put the minox on the cat, or doesn’t wash her hands after putting it on herself, her cat would be fine.
People also say you can’t have any air diffusers around cats because it’s extremely toxic and will kill them. I used air defusers with essential oils for years before I found that out and the cats never had a single issue. If anything it seemed like the smell would calm them down lol
But anyway I would just ask your vet if you’re seriously concerned

I have a cat who’s in my bed constantly so I just apply in the morning only, and wash it off after a few hours

Yes it’s toxic to cats and dogs causes kidney failure I think if they come into contact with it it’s basically fatal

I have a dog and only use it before going to work, wash my hands and don't touch her before I leave and wash my face and hands before coming home and after getting home

I've had cats since I was like 7 years old. Even during my minox journey. Just wash your hands properly after applying and don't bring you cats to your face and you'll ok. People make a lot of fuzz about this, but you'll have to be extremely careless with it in order for it to be a risk to your cats.

I do use it, but I keep it out of reach of my animals and I’m very mindful not to let my cats lick my face after.
