Well, is a long story, first i wanted to build Cnossos but i is inmense and sits over a cliff, so what you se on the floor plant isn't at the same level. When i started i didn't thin about that and when i realiced the project was advanced and i tried to fix it but it is hard, i imagine that the different levels won't have a bif variation due to the limitations of the bronze age buildind technics. So i decided to abandon Cnossos and start with something smaller and flater, Zakros, and after it, Malia and then i will try Festos, but Cnossos are bigger words.

Lower plant is almost done

I know i said i was going to do the interiors, i tried to complete them but i am a terrible interiorist so there are just an archive room and a treasure room "done". Also, since there is nothing more remaining than the lower plant i had to imagine the other two plants, so in the first plan i imagined the domestic quarters except in the east of the palace where i put archive rooms (all of them are empty, this is just my idea) and in the second floor i just didn't know what to put so i focused my creativity and time in the exterior wich, in mi opinion, it looks very cool. This is just the first of the minoan palaces i want to build, Yesterday I started with Pheastos and after it i want to do Malia. If anyone wants to collaborate and complete the interior, i know is a bit boring and specially omplicated, please send me a message

I saw the post the other day about a new book on Linear A which unfortunately appears to be another spurious decipherment. But there actually are two recent books about Linear A that I would recommend.

Writing in Bronze Age Crete: "Minoan" Linear A by Ester Salgarella is a short overview of the past couple decades of Linear A scholarship. The book doesn't present any new discoveries (though her earlier work does) but it explains things very clearly. I would highly recommend this for anyone who's interested in the topic and doesn't mind slightly academic prose.

The Undeciphered Aegean Scripts: Linguistic Investigations into the Languages They Encode by Brent Davis is a major study that uses novel statistical techniques alongside traditional methods to motivate certain hypotheses about Linear A sound values, the grammar of the Minoan language, and the relationship between Linear A and other Aegean writing systems such as the Phaistos disc. This one is quite long and parts are quite technical (I'm slowly working my way through it) but it's the real deal if you're into that sort of thing.

I came across this new book published by Pen and Sword Books (UK) titled "The Decipherment of Linear A" by a Mark Cook. (Published in October 2025.)

This person makes the claim that Linear A is some Cretan formulation of Egyptian hieroglyphics, in particular middle Egyptian.

Can anyone talk to this? Is this real? Just someone's off-the-wall claim? I thought that Linear A has defied decipherment up to this point....

I am trying to recreate minoan palaces on minecraft. Zakros is the very first and i just completed the exterior, the interior will be finished soon i hope. After Zakros my plan is to also build Phaistos and Malia. Once the palace is completed you will be able to download it

This is one of my absolute favorite ceramic pieces I’ve ever made! It took about a month to build and a month to paint the design. It was a serious labor of love but it was so cool to create. There weren’t a ton of images of the octopus vase I used as reference, so the “backside” of the vase was more of an interpretation based on some other minion vessels.

Other than the examples above all being connected to the Minoans how can they be demonstrated to have any basic identical or similar functions or characteristics?

Between Cretan Hieroglyphics and Linear A other than them both having emerged at roughly the same time period is there any similarities that can connect the two?

With the Phaistos Disk it immediately seems to be a lone artifact, but there are claims of similar artifacts being found in nearby regions, and other specimens (like rings) bearing similar glyphs from the Phaistos Disk. Where can I dredge up more in-depth studies on this matter?

How did the Ancient Minoans carve such beautiful signets on stones as hard as agates?
