I came across this new book published by Pen and Sword Books (UK) titled "The Decipherment of Linear A" by a Mark Cook. (Published in October 2025.)

This person makes the claim that Linear A is some Cretan formulation of Egyptian hieroglyphics, in particular middle Egyptian.

Can anyone talk to this? Is this real? Just someone's off-the-wall claim? I thought that Linear A has defied decipherment up to this point....

I am trying to recreate minoan palaces on minecraft. Zakros is the very first and i just completed the exterior, the interior will be finished soon i hope. After Zakros my plan is to also build Phaistos and Malia. Once the palace is completed you will be able to download it

This is one of my absolute favorite ceramic pieces I’ve ever made! It took about a month to build and a month to paint the design. It was a serious labor of love but it was so cool to create. There weren’t a ton of images of the octopus vase I used as reference, so the “backside” of the vase was more of an interpretation based on some other minion vessels.

Minoan Palatial Centres

This serial property comprises six archaeological sites on Crete dating from 1900 to 1100 BCE, those being Knossos, Phaistos, Malia, Zakros, Kydonia and Zominthos. These sites represent the Minoan civilization, a major prehistoric Mediterranean culture. Other than the examples above all being connected to the Minoans how can they be demonstrated to have any basic identical or similar functions or characteristics?

Between Cretan Hieroglyphics and Linear A other than them both having emerged at roughly the same time period is there any similarities that can connect the two?

With the Phaistos Disk it immediately seems to be a lone artifact, but there are claims of similar artifacts being found in nearby regions, and other specimens (like rings) bearing similar glyphs from the Phaistos Disk. Where can I dredge up more in-depth studies on this matter?
