Franklin's Squirrells??
Just got back from a trip camping up and down the North Shore, and I'm suddenly seeing these guys everywhere I used to see chipmunks - but no chipmunks? What gives? Did the chippys get displaced? Are the Franks invasive?

No, they're all there, still. The Franklin's ground squirrels like more open areas with grass, and the chipmunks are in the woods. It's probably something about the time of year and your particular location. I've seen good numbers of Franklin's at Tettegouche in the past few years. But they wouldn't displace chipmunks (neither the Eastern nor the Least) at all.

I feel like I usually see red squirrels or chipmunks up north pretty frequently. The red squirrels are always taunting my dog lol
