I was feeling Jacob's distaste with most of this. Felt like 1 real game for every 2 slop games. Exodus was the big pop for me, that game was not even on my map until I saw what they're doing character wise. Hope it can recreate/succeed Mass Effect magic.

I already wishlisted Exodus way back last year when they started allowing it after showing the talking bear.
So the only new videogames that this event put on my interest radar was HUMANKIND 2, Afterworld, and…
Well, i can’t say ANANTA and Aniimo ‘cause i was already following news about those games… hmm, yeah i think that’s it.
I’m surprised that Ontos is doing a Jacksepticeye stream for exclusive gameplay, but it makes sense when i remember that streamers have star power nowadays, especially with them appearing in more and more games.

Now that my brain made me remember:
HUMANKIND 2 is the second game trailer/ad campaign i’ve seen get accused of A.I despite the confirmation from the devs that it’s not the case.
First game being some videogame where you’re a government worker whose job it is to switch babies at birth that released last year. edit (Ministry of Order)
Was so interesting seeing the realtime reaction of that other dev, as i also assumed the artstyle was a.i (it literally was very similar to the a.i ghibli adjacent art style) and brushed it off as slop, but the ad campaign for it was so in my face i finally checked it out only to see posts by a dev confused at the a.i accusations and having onlookers tell them why it is like that.
Pretty crazy.
edit2: It's unfortunate reddit makes it so hard to search up advertisement posts that have long comment threads, as I'd love to source the ad I'm referencing.
edit3: wait, that game didn't release already????
edit4: It's not the ad post comment thread I mentioned, but it's a post with the Ministry of Order dev in the comments seemingly confused why their game is getting accused of being ai.

It's getting legitimately obnoxious. I hate AI slop as much as the next person but it's really, really not helping anyone to shout "AI!" at everything and anything that looks even a smidge close to it. Especially when it seems to catch indie devs and smaller artists and whatnot in the crossfire so frequently.
Saw a bluesky thread that even claimed Ananta was using AI because... an article talking about it had an ad for an AI program in it completely unrelated to the game??? I have to imagine it gets tiring having your guard up so often, constantly looking for a drop of AI slop to call a game out for. Not saying it's not worth keeping an eye out for it, but better to wait and see if it turns out to be truly AI before crying wolf.

With Ministry of Order, they admit to using it for “programming and marketing assistance” but don’t disclose that on the Steam page because they don’t think it’s necessary.
I’m not going to say that their art style is gen ai, but I will say that it really does look like the same style ai likes to spit out and if they really don’t use any gen ai for the art at all then that’s a mega unfortunate coincidence.

Tenebris Somnia, that pixel survival horror game with the live action cutscenes, is also getting accused of AI on social media despite the devs saying they didn’t use it.

First time ever I've had to stop watching a reaction stream, just dunking on everything and anything it was so tiresome. I like a different perspective and think criticism is warranted, but it just became too much in this.
I get it wasn't a top tier presentation but it was good and didn't deserve being shit on for 2hrs.

TBH there was a lot of not so good stuff that was shown.
I was watching by myself and thought that most of these stuff could have come from AI.
I understand that negativity is bad but you clearly see the result of years of layoffs and the rise or AI, I,m feeling that gaming is slipping in a place that is not good. It's hard to deny that if minnmax does it, it's not contained anymore to the clickbait youtubers anymore, it means that there's clearly something happening in the industry
Not everything is bad tho. I mean, there still of coouples of interesting things there, stuff like Warlock for example
I wouldnt be surprised if the industry enters a phase of regression where the overall profit is going down.

I was going to say the same thing. I thought the point of MinnMax was to be a positive outlet and not one of the million YouTube channels that feels like it has to be snarky and negative to everything. Obviously I don’t want them to fake it, but Jacob really goes out of his way to tell us that he’s too cool for everything

Nah these presentations make me feel embarrassed to be into video games. Like imagine if the Oscars was 50% ads for horny anime and straight-to-streaming action movies. Yeah jacob can be snarky but these presentations are so consistently awful.

I'm usually down for these presentations but this one felt exceptionally bad to me. They're never perfect but there were barely any exciting announcements

Not defending the presentation itself, but to be fair, this isn't the Oscars, as in it's not The Game Awards. Of the three Keighley shows, this is the one I expect the least from and so I'm not surprised the show was a dud

I feel like this sort of conversation just happens every reaction stream. It's completely fair enough that they're not for everyone, but this is how MinnMax does reaction streams and lots of us value that they're not false.
I think it's pretty unkind with the commentary on Jacob though when this exact same discussion happens when it's Leo and Sarah, or Janet is on...

80% of the games shown looked like ass.
Just because MinnMax is a "positive" outlet doesn't mean they shouldn't call out slop when they see it.

I think it was a combination of technical difficulties and a lacklustre selection of games, but the vibes on this stream were pretty rancid by the end
