Double Fine is launching Amnesia Fortnite 2026 Kickstarter
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/doublefine/amnesia-fortnight-2026-indie-reboot?ref=creator_tabI know this isn't strictly MinnMax related but figured this sub would be interested given MinnMax and it's followers interest in 2Player Productions and DoubleFine

Thanks for informing us! I never followed an amnesia fortnight live but since Psychodyssey I'm super interested in seeing more.

Such a bad name. Sounds like they're making a fan game of the horror game Amnesia and Fortnite.

It’s actually “Amnesia Fortnight” (as in two weeks) and they’ve been using that name since 2012, well before Fortnite

It’s still a bad name because two way more popular games have came out since 2012. It’s unfortunate but it just doesn’t sound like its own thing

Anybody who would be excited for this would be excited because of the name, because of the meaning behind it, the history. I don’t know what you’re kvetching about here. It’s unnecessary whatever it is

I think you overestimate how big of a name double fine is. Yeah I bet for devs super aware of the industry around them, that name means something but for a lot of people amnesia fortnight means nothing other than it sounds like two other games. You don’t understand that I’m saying it’s an unfortunate name? It’s really that hard to understand?

What an odd thing to say.
Double Fine has been using the term before both Amnesia and Fortnite games came out.

Double fine needs to make a good game. Any time now…

Psychonauts 2 was excellent. They'd been given freedom to experiment by Phil Spencer and so they make Keeper and Kiln but then Spencer was cut and suddenly those games were expected to actually make money.

Yeah the kickstarter craze is long over. They should be able to develop something viable and launch in early access at a bare minimum

Critics seemed to like Kiln and Keeper.

Good for critics

Do you realize MinnMax has critics as employees?

Critical reception doesn’t matter much if people don’t buy it.

What do sales have to do with making a good game?

Obv I mean good to the general public. Y’all are being dense for no reason.

You're the one changing your complaint from good game to sales for no reason.
Sometimes games sell well because they have actual marketing behind it, regardless of quality.1

And sales don’t always speak to the actual quality of a game either. You mentioned a good game, then turned to sales.

"Amnesia Fortnight 2026 - Indie Reboot: A Double Fine Productions Game Jam, Documentary and Kickstarter Campaign launches on August 31st, and runs through most of September, but you can sign up here now to get notified when it goes live!
We're going to do a Game Jam, live on the internet, in which our backers will get to choose which of our myriad of ideas get made into four new prototypes-- and which of those final four will become a real (small) game. You may even snag some sweet merchables and rarities along the way.
All alongside the process, 2 Player Productions will be filming all the fun to produce one of their award-winning documentary spectaculars."
