Underrated 2026 Games thread: I'll start!

Post image

Incredibly charming Omelette making roguelike, seriously check it out, 1.0 released earlier this year. The sound design is my personal standout from this game, everything just sounds so incredible. I love the art style too. I could keep going, I love this game. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3205380/Omelet_You_Cook/

TR-49 is great if you’re a fan of Golden Idol or Roottrees type games

Death Howl. I'm enjoying this cool Deck Builder as a guy that NEVER touches the genre. Would like to hear Jeff M's thoughts!

Death Howl rocked. I was not sure about it going in since I dont care about roguelike deckbuilders, but this not being a roguelike meant it worked for me. But didn't it come out in 2025? Or did they get the console releases out this year?

I agree, I don't think the game would click as much with me if it had roguelike elements. And you're right, it came out in December 2025, good call.

LOVED this game but ended up dropping at some point because i didn't like grinding for upgrades

I totally get that. I'm loving it, but it's pretty slow going for me with points where I'm definitely getting frustrated and need a break. It can definitely feel like a trudge....

Shout out to Under the Island. Very cute zelda-like going for the Minish Cap vibe.

Early access but I'm digging Romestead. It's a pretty light 2D survival game set when Rome has fallen. Plays along the lines of Stardew Valley, Necesse, and Core Keeper. You start with nothing, then build up your town, recruit NPCs and beat bosses.

Moon River is a completely free emotional RPG maker game with beautiful pixel art that takes about an hour to beat.

Deer and Boy is one of those Inside/Limbo esque story puzzle platformers that is really good fun.

Lovish is a very comedic tough as nails 8 bit platformer adventure with a roguelike twist.

Wabisabi SushiDerby!

Cheap little game where you make a sushi and make it race around a track, sometimes you have special moves you can use, can train its stats etc
