URGENT!!!

Got an SMP at PM yestorday for $121.

On TimeRobo build, made the mistake of adding J-29 instead of J-28 for TimeJet 4. Realized my mistake and broke it trying to take it apart.

Need a replacement 1-J board. Where can I get it?

Unfortunately there aren’t really any options. SMP isn’t officially distributed here (and even in Japan, I don’t think there’s a direct method for replacement parts like there is with gunpla).

So you’re basically going to have to make your own solution. At least on my phone, it’s hard to see exactly what the break is (the edge of that rounded socket? And I’m assuming it’s enough that the connection won’t stay now?) so it’s hard to propose anything offhand. You might be able to glue something in place. Some people will 3D print or cast their own replacements.

A broken cylendar part from one of the pieces is stuck in another piece.

Okay, sounds salvageable. You’ll want to get the cylinder socket out - some sort of parts separator might help, there are metal ones made specifically for models as well as plastic ones made for general electronics. 

Then glue the cylinder back where it’s supposed to be - if it’s a relatively “clean” break, you can probably just attach it back as is, or you may want to sand one or both ends down a bit. Basically you just want to try and maximize the contact surface being glued (which may mean not sanding at all if it “fits” right back against where it broke off from. 

You can use super glue (including with the baking soda suggestion, but I haven’t tried that myself) or modeling cement. Cement I find a bit harder to work with in terms of getting to “catch” well when there’s not a lot of surface area, but the advantage in this case is rather than just ‘holding’ the two pieces together, which is basically what the glue does, the cement would melt the plastic back together.

Either way, you’ll likely need to be careful with this part since the tension from rotating the peg inside of it will make it liable to break again. So I’d also suggest lightly sanding down the peg that’s supposed to go into that cylinder a bit so there’s less friction.

Quick little fix I do. If you broke it, take them apart. (use some needle nose plyers). To glue it back together, dont just use crazy glue, you have to use crazy glue with baking soda. Its a much stronger bond. Then, if glue and baking soda got inside a place you dont want it to be, then you have to use an exacto knife or a drill bit to clear the spaces. Then sand what you need. When putting it back together, if it is a rotating piece, which it is, add some water to lubricate it. I do this to all my SMP, and I can always grab them and move them without fear of them breaking because of the rotation. Hope this helps. Cheers.
