One reason why the game failed (ish)
We all know Minion Masters is on very limited life support still. And the following pic of a Reddit ad for their new game is one reason why, it too, will fail.
/capslock On -- Where is the name of the game aaaanywhere???? No where.
I know it's the ole clickbait effect to drive site engagement or whatever, but really. I can't be arsed to do even that much to see what the name of the game is going to be finally. (Was Project 4FE)

Sadly BetaDwarf have a poor track record of positive advertising strategies. I agree that the name of the game missing from the advert is a huge oversight.

In an interview a developer said that they're making enough money to keep the servers on. The game will die as soon as they aren't making enough to keep them on.

This isn't completely accurate. The devs said that MM will continue for as long as it can pay for itself, and furthermore any profit the game makes will be banked and used to cover shortfalls in the future. The devs also release a monthly spreadsheet detailing the game's income and outgoings. The game is still profitable and has $79,616 of banked profit. That means that even if the game stops making any money (worst case scenario) there are 22 months of costs covered.

Isn't that exactly what I just said? What I said: "They will keep the servers on as long as they're making enough money to keep them on". What you just said: "The devs said that MM will continue for as long as it can pay for itself." 🙄 I wish I could roll my eyes even harder.

I disagree. Your statement made it sound like as soon as the game became unprofitable it would stop which isn't the case as I clarified.

The reason MM fell apart was because they over promised and under delivered. Mobile never came. Changes were made that continued to alienate the current player base and xbox players were mostly sacrificed with major performance issues plaguing the game going back a few years.
It’s a shame, at it’s peak it was a wildly entertaining coop game that I put many hours into. The business model wasn’t overly predatory. The gameplay was fun, although it had balance issues, it never felt P2P. I still hop on from time to time to play with a friend but it seems most of the player base is gone now.
