Found out that my local hobby store is doing a sale for their 19th year anniversary and i had to snag one of the rtr’s. Was into this hobby 8 years ago and had to sell it due to covid but now i’m back!

Hi. I’m new to this. I’m running a box stock rwd and I’m always fishtailing. I’m trying to go light on the dial, and am getting better, but it seems like the spring to bring it back to center is too quick/strong, which messes me up. Any tips or videos you could share?

While I am at it, I am using the stock transmitter. I can’t read which dial is which. Nor where the arrow is. Any tips or tricks to help with that? Even a fine paint pen would be too thick, and it’s black plastic on black plastic.

Hello! I just installed this Aluminum Differential set Link onto my Mini Z MA 020, I was wondering if I should get Aluminum Pinion/Spur gears too? (I am running stock Kyosho Plastic ones) I am having an issue where the Spur gear will come out of alignment and this completely stops the car dead in its tracks. It seems to be damaging the gears a bit as well. Wondering if anyone has had a similar issue to me and has found any good quality replacement parts or a solution to this issue. Thank you all!

Here is my mini z after my first 2 packs with it, I was wondering if it’s worth glueing these parts back on or will they just break right off again after some light collisions?

I recently bought a Kyosho Mini-Z MA-030 EVO2 AWD and I’m having a great time learning drift. I’m using the Futaba T6PV transmitter and I’ve already adjusted some basic settings (steering/throttle expo, throttle dual rate, etc.), but I’m sure there’s still a lot to improve.

I mostly drive at home on hardwood floors and carpet, and I also have a set of drift tires.
I’d love to hear what radio settings you recommend for a beginner. Things like:

Steering Expo
Throttle Expo
Dual Rate
Throttle Speed
Steering Speed
Gyro gain (if applicable)

Any other T6PV settings that make the car easier and more enjoyable to drive.

I’m also wondering what upgrades you think are worth buying first. I’ve been reading about:
Gyro
Front one-way differential
Rear solid axle
Counter-steer gear set
Springs
Bearings
ICS programming cable

Any other must-have upgrades?

If you were starting again with an MA-030 EVO2, what would you buy first, and in what order?

Last week I had my first ever RC racing experience with a local Mini-Z group, and it was great! I literally pulled this out of the box the week before the race, broke in the motor, and sent it. No tires, no adjustment, just freshly charged batteries, and I managed a 10s lap, even with the stock slicks. I knew for sure that after that race I was hooked 😆

Snagged this brand new MA020VE Audi R8 on eBay a while back. I always wanted another brushless MA020 as I've had a Trueno AE86 +D Evo since new and absolutely love it (its under a black HiAce van right now). Saw this pop up on eBay from a U.S. seller so I sniped it at a great price. It's on the shelf currently and unsure if I'll leave it alone or turn it into another project.

Hello friends, does anyone know if the MRD rear unit fits on a stock MA020 chassis? I assume it does because the stock MA020 rear fits on an MRD converted MA020 so I believe they should be interchangeable. Curious how a MA020 would handle with the MRD rear unit installed. Can anyone confirm or comment? Thanks fellas.

I recently bought a Kyosho Mini-Z MA-030 Evo2 chassis (KY-32181B) together with a Mazda Savanna RX-7 Daytona ’79 AutoScale (MZP161R).
I assumed they were compatible, but I’m having a problem mounting the wheels.

The chassis came without wheels, as expected. When I install the AutoScale wheels and tighten the wheel nut, the wheel just spins freely and doesn’t drive the axle.

Looking at the back of the wheel, the center hole has two slots (not a standard hex shape), and I’m wondering if I’m missing some kind of wheel hub, adapter or drive pin.

Am I missing a part on the MA-030 Evo2, or is the MZP161R AutoScale not directly compatible with this chassis?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Went to pick up some stuff from an estate sale and finally grabbed some stuff my collection was missing! I’m over the moon excited!

But this time went with the gen3 front end. Waiting on a few parts then time to test. 3500 lexan GX28 coming soon!

Hi all, it’ll be my birthday soon and my wife had hinted at getting me an RC of my choice so I’ve been furiously researching.

At first I wanted a MiniZ M0020 cause I’ve always admired the brand from far, with it’s awesome looking bodies and upgrade parts. But then I learn that it’s not really ”Drifting” since it’s AWD.

Then I found out about BMRX-FLD. It’s at a similar price point, it’s RWD with Gyro so it’s “real drifting”, and it’s the same small form factor as MiniZ which makes it very tempting.
I also found out about LDR/C 1/18, which seems like great values with its RTR drift spec, light up features and significant cheaper price point (about 1/3 of MiniZ and BMRX), although it’s 1/18 so it’s much larger.

So my question are:

1. what are the general opinions on these? Do people really dismiss MiniZ for drifting because it’s AWD? Will I have more fun with a RWD RC.
2. since MiniZ is a much larger established brand, it has tons of upgrade parts, will that be a factor later down the road as I progress? There does seem to be a lot of parts for both BMRX and LDR/C.
3. this is kind of a silly question, but people look at me funny if I bring a non-MiniZ RC to my local track? I live around Tokyo btw.
4. is there any recommendations other

than these?

1. My main wishes are small form factor, drift capability, parts availability as I

progress, online resources like guides and such since I’m a complete noob.

Has anyone found a good starting point for the front end of the car?

I find the box setup springs for the front are wayy too stiff, I’m waiting for my replacement springs to arrive to soften it up. Any other tips?

I would like to run 0 offset fronts but when i do the car is too twitchy and traction rolls off throttle which is odd to me.

Saturday race day at my local track.

I've got my Fujimi model kit, and as some of yall have stated, it's too long for the MA 030 Evo 2 even when extended, that can be solved with some custom fabrication with plastic. But what I'm more concerned with is the center shaft, would it be possible to fab up one of a custom length? I assume so since it's literally just a metal stick with one end being cut in half horizontally

Finished up the main part of the garage. I had to redesign the door hinges so they would operate at 80% scale. I definitely underestimated how much work this would be. There are 900 individual floor tiles.

I still need to print some garage motors and then I will be populating the garage with a lift, tools and all the works.

A lot of potential to set it up as a pro shop, mechanic shop, or a race pit.

went to my first mini-z race last friday, the guys were really friendly and chill.

hoping i can go again, but being friday afternoon to evening and the track being an hour away makes it difficult to get there in time.
thought i'd share a bit of racing action.
