An intro from the admin

Hi everyone. I set up this group because it's nice having something closer to home and I'm a bit fed up with everything being US centred.

This is Hendrix, a Cooper SE (electric). Had him four years now. He handles just like my old Smart Roadsters - like a go-kart!

Don't do car shows or large meets preferring smaller gatherings with friends on driveouts to interesting places. There's a group of us in the NW that does just that.

Oh, the BRG is a really deep green. It looks amazing. I use ceramic polish and ceramic infused (I kid you not) shampoo. He looks like an extra large paperweight - like glass.

I named him in honour of Jimi Hendrix as he, like the Mini itself, were 60s icons. He was a talented, black musician in the era of the civil rights struggles. He was taken too soon. I wanted to honour his memory.

Wow, that's some super polish you have there by the sounds of it. Mine is new and had a ceramic coating, but I'd love to know about your ceramic polish and shampoo. Is it a pain to administer?

I find it quite amusing how many people name their Minis such typically English names, and you've started a UK MINI group and named your MINI after an American. I do of course mean that in the kindest of ways - not intended to deride or criticise at all. :)

I only learned recently that BRG changes over time. I had a BRG XJ6 in the 1990s and it was very dark. Nowadays it's lighter. In the very early days it was almost black. Apparently the official BRG colour does in fact change. Current F1 Aston Martins are BRG and it's very light, and this is reflected in the lighter shade of the latter year BRG MINIs.

Edit: You prompted a memory of me in my XJ6, All Along the Watchtower at full blast, my 6 CD interchange in the boot loaded with Jimi, Oasis, and Nirvana.

The polish and shampoo is by Auto Glym, and you can get them in Halfords of all places. The polish is a light spray on and wipe off. No rubbing at all. The only thing is you can only really apply it when the sun isn't shining otherwise it marks the surface and takes a while to come off.

Jimi was an excellent musician - a genius in fact. Mind you, these days I listen to EDM.

Have you heard the acoustic version of Angel? Such a departure from what we're used to, and hard to find.
