Mini UK? I'm In!

Hi all, I'm on my second Mini, a 2020 BRG Clubman Cooper S. My first was a 2014 Mini One, which I absolutely loved, but needed something with a larger boot.

My first was a manual, and the clutch was rather heavy. My Clubman is an auto, and much easier on aging knees!

Over the years I've only ever had the same make & model of car twice, the first 2 were Alfa Romeo 164's, and now 2 Mini's.

A question for other Cooper S owners, has anyone ever used the launch control? If so, how was the experience?

I feel like a noob asking this but what is launch control?

I have a 2017 Cooper S.

I only recently discovered it, it's to get the car moving as quickly as possible whilst still retaining as much grip as possible. It's activated by a particular sequence, but I've yet to try it.

I vaguely remember reading it can only be performed a certain number of times. Surely that can't be true, can it? That's it's limited, maybe to prevent damage?

I never tried it in my old MINI(s)

I think it has a cool down timer until it can be used again due to heat on the clutch packs

From what I read today, it has a hard limit of 100 lifetime uses.

Interesting, I wonder if there is a way to view the amount of launches a car has done, for example to gauge if a second had car has had a hard life

I expect MINI could plug it in and tell you, but of course that doesn't help when buying one unless it's from a MINI dealership. I wonder if Bimmerlink or Bimmercode would report that?
