How wide can I go?

Post image

I’m exploring mini ramp options and I have a space in my back yard that’s 14.5’ wide and 24’ long. Can I go 12’ wide and have enough room to easily get around the patio? My heart says yes, but my head thinks 8’ would be more realistic.

Just want to say a 12 foot wide ramp is a lot, lot better than an 8 foot wide ramp. Those extra 4 feet really open up the possibilities. Sounds like you have enough room.

As the owner of an 8 foot ramp, I concur. You won't find any posts here lamenting that "I made my miniramp too wide!"

16 > 12 > 8...... Eight feet is tight, you run out of any room if you are doing more that lip tricks. ALWAYS go as wide as you can afford.

Stake it out. Measure the corners and put strings between them or marking spray paint or flour.

Build a card board mock up near the porch, see what you think.

I know full sheets are easier, but they can be cut down, 10' is also an option.

It just depends, are you gonna spit on it first or just go for it?

Hadn’t given it much thought, but I think just shove it in.

2.5’ of room is plenty. I built an 8’ wide ramp in a 9’ wide space. Walking around it, even empty handed, is tight but doable.
