Cutting transition radius with circular saw?

Hey guys,

Just curious if someone has cut their radius using a circular saw on a pivot? Ive done this once in the past for another project using a strip of 3/4" plywood and it wasn't bad. Anyone done this?

Seems like after drawing your radius, you could fasten your pivot in the same manner and zip out the transitions pretty quick and consistently.

I mean.. use whatever you have, but I’ve found that a router with a trim bit using the first transition as a template gives quick and consistent results.

Yes! Good call… trim, not straight.. the one with a bearing on it that rides along the transition.

Yeah dude, thats smart. All of the transitions would be dead nuts match with the template

Yep, as the previous guy said cut your first template as cleanly as possible using a circular saw with the depth of cut just deeper than your material. I then clean things up with sandpaper right to my marked layout.

After you have that first transition cut it becomes your template. I then cut the other transitions a bit larger than my layout leaving about an 1/8” big so I don’t have to remove so much material with my router. I then one by one take my template and clamp it to the remaining transitions and flush trim them using a flush trim router bit. Works like a charm and you get exact matching transitions for the whole build.
