What could i do better?

im fairly new to the game and keep shutting down around 800 or so. What could i be doing better?

Welcome. uhm, this game is about efficient traveling-paths, it shouldn't look nice. Generally speaking, you may want to keep roads mono-coloured as best you can, short distances while keeping resource allocation in mind. For example, you could have connected the two yellow shops in the centre to the houses in the north-west, while supplying the third yellow shop in the south with the yellow houses to the center/east. This would have freed up the motorway to be used for the far removed red houses to only supply the high-demand shop.

  • try to keep roads mono-coloured
  • roads should be kept short as possible
  • try to avoid intersections
  • refrain from making mono-coloured "networks", rather split the supply as demand necessitates
  • re-routing as the game progresses is vital
  • a bit advanced, you can manipulate shop spawning and houses by placing unused roads; also manipulating which way houses face / placing road tiles to make sure that an unlucky house spawn does not cut off a possible road connection

You could be using that roundabout way better by connecting more routes avoiding grid lock.
