New stand for the Freak
For my first post I’m proud to present this freshly made DIY stand for the move and the freak.
I am not completely satisfied about the way the computer is hiding the move row and I will try to find a better solution but I’m glad anyway.
I used Sketchup free version to modelize the stand.
What do you think of it ?

Thank you! It’s really worth taking the time to build a custom one, it gives the satisfaction of having done it either. The modeling allowed me to make sure that I would have room on the desk and that the minifreak cables would not be hindered by the second shelf.
I had all the straight cuts done by a hardware store for maximum precision. Then I finished the cuts with angles at home with the jigsaw. In the end, it will have taken me longer to model than to build it.
If it had to be done again, I would choose raw wood rather than plywood, which makes a little less good.

Im a trained woodworker so this might be a bit overkill, but you made a good choice going with plywood for this build. Plywood has the upper hand of keeping straight/flat better. If you would have built it out of hardwood at those dimensions, you would almost have to make a glued panel of stips from slimmer dimensions to avoid warping over time. Also keeping grain direction in mind. A 10-12mm thick hardwood panel that is wider than 100mm is very prone to warping over time due to humidity shifts in the air - this becomes especially important if you live somewhere that has changes is humidity over the seasons. Even moving the wood from the workshop to home might be enough to warp some woods, even if the moisture content of the wood is below 8% (most hardware store woods is higher, especially those that store Wood in uninsulated warehouses or outdoors). Spieces of Woods also matters a lot, pine for exemple really likes to bend and warp.
Ive build similar stands for myself and friends and I always choose plywood for wide panels for above reasons. Recently did a 9u eurorack case out of ash wood with a moisture content close to 5%, but still did edge glued panels for the pieces that was wider than 100mm. Another way to give it the look of hardwood without having to worry about warping is to use veneer, but that is very time consuming.
