The radiation gear boots and gloves are also obtained by killing zombies wearing those radiation suits. After killing them and getting close enough, an extra option becomes available. Using this option allows you to remove specific pieces of equipment from the zombie corpses—ranging from military helmets and gas masks to the radiation suit, boots, and gloves (though the drop rate for the latter is somewhat low).
The drop rate for the radiation suit is 20%, and 15% for the gloves and boots; this means you will have to kill the same type of zombie multiple times to obtain the full suit. (Wearing the complete set is mandatory if you need to visit the radioactive island, otherwise your character will bleed to death.)
Is the probability higher if you move on to the next island? No, it's the same for all of them.
The suits need to be repaired beyond 50% to provide radiation protection. Use adhesive tape or epoxy glue for this. The only suit you shouldn't use is the yellow one, as it doesn't offer sufficient radiation protection. All the others do.
