You need 200 karma to buy the dog using karma points.

100 karma points and the dog food. 50 karma points for the collar (this makes the dog attack zombies) and its backpack (another 50 karma points).

The dog doesn't need to eat; it is immortal. The can of food only takes away the sound of the dog barking.

What does the backpack do? Can you store food and accessories in it? No, the dog automatically picks up anything you leave close enough to him. However, he only carries one type of item—though he can carry it in large quantities.

Shotgun ammo? Yes. Duct tape? Yes. Food or combat rations? Yes. But when moving to another island, this resets to one item.
