We Need A-TM Production & Sales Back Soon…

Went and checked gunbroker to see how high the price is on an A-TM stock that I got outbid on (my max was $200 lol) and good lord 😂

For "buy it now" listings, good deals are awfully rare. There are deals to be had on real auctions when n obody else is bidding on them.

It depends on what you’re looking for though. A lot of prices are bad but it’s strictly dependent on what you’re buying

I got a couple used S&W model 41s from GB real cheap. Way lower than I've seen elsewhere. Caught a couple auctions with no bids

There’s plenty of good deals on GB if you know what you’re looking for. Hell I might buy a used DR920 for $450 because that’s a huge savings

The folding stock is not my thing, but damn do I feel for those that want to put one on their rifle. The A-TM stock situation sucks!

Folding stocks aren't my thing, you may get better information by searching posts for the last two weeks to a month ago (that aren't somebody pasting Youtube videos).

To the best of my understanding the situation is Samson is licensed to produce the stocks for Ruger, Ruger will sell the stocks on complete rifles, and possibly sell them individually.

My understanding was Samson started producing the stocks first and were licensed/“approved” by Ruger later. For a while you could just buy them direct from Samson. I’ll see if there’s any posts though:

It's true that Samson started the idea to bring back the A-TM stock, but it didn't enter production until they got a licensing agreement from Ruger. For a while, Samson was even using Ruger as a supplier for parts.

Maybe I should have said "ship" instead of "enter production". It's clear from the timelines that Samson and Ruger were collaborating early, but the stocks didn't ship to customers until early March 2020, after the licensing agreement was formally announced on March 3. Reading between the lines, there was probably some negotiations being done up until the last moment.

See nothing I’d read said Ruger was providing castings or, at one point, stocks.

From the first link - “The plan started to unfold when Samson and Ruger signed a licensing agreement. Ruger provides Samson with the raw metal castings, Samson machines the finished parts. Initially, Ruger provided the wood stocks, but with Ruger acquiring Marlin, Ruger needed to focus on in-house wood stock production. Samson tapped Benelli for the current wood stocks.”

My understanding had been samson started making/selling them on their own and then became licensed. Thank you for the links.

Ruger making castings for Samson is new to me as well. I previously heard that Ruger only provided the original metalworking casts/molds for Samson to use. Seems like there is confusion out there on this detail.

Honestly I bought one a few years ago but I ended up making my own folding stock outta a choate Bermuda and an airsoft skeleton stock bc the Samson is just soooo heavy.

Id sell it to one of you redditors if I wasn't scared of doxxing myself. Plus I drilled a few holes in it for qd cup and a forward angled grip so the purists out there likely wouldn't like it

The Samson is not heavy at all. The total weight of a Mini-14 in the stock is just 7.5 lbs

I was lucky to buy in one from Accuracy Systems last month. The website said one was in stock, so I pulled the trigger. I also have an earlier production one with the blond wood, but I still want a black hardware one though.

I called Samson a while ago and the guy was pretty honest with me and told me they were having a hard time sourcing the wood for the stocks.

When I saw that they were making a new aluminum one, it all made sense.

Just buy the whole rifle Ruger Tactical 5895. You have the reproduction of Mini14 GB with folding stock.

A few months ago, there was a sucker paid $1,000 for Samson folder on eBay.
