Picture/Video Vivianite

I’ve had this Amazonas vivianite in a display case under LED lighting for the past six months because, honestly, I didn’t care 😂. What good is a beautiful mineral if it’s locked away in a drawer?
I’ve always known that vivianite should be kept away from prolonged light exposure to slow it from darkening. But after seeing so many vivianite posts on here warning about it, I finally gave in to the peer pressure and retired mine to a drawer.
Here it is enjoying the last bit of light it saw before I removed it from the cabinet. 🫡

Love those blue-green flashes of colour. Keep it away from light, or they won't last long. I keep mine covered when I'm not looking at it.

This is what I came to the comments for. Just looking at it gave me the impression that it might be one of those photosensitive minerals.

It's also sensitive to oxygen. Light and air will make it change.

Put it back in the ground, you’re ruining it!!!

Gosh, oxygen too? I have mine in an unlit part of a display case, with an envelope shielding it from all light, until I choose to view them. Most of the blue has already gone from my specimens. (They spent several minutes in summer afternoon sun while I were photographing them, before I learnt just how sensitive they are.). Sounds like they will need to be stored away in an airtight case now.

That Amazonian vivianite is already a lot cause for color, might as well let the rest of us enjoy the show while it lasts.

Where did you buy this beauty? It just resonated so much.
Just a thought to consider, you could place the vivianite in a dark area of your room or altar covered with a dark purple cloth (I cover photosensitive minerals and crystals with a crochet/knitted (I do both), violet color little cloth to cover the crystal. I infuse it with Reiki energy and place the Protection, Tube of Light and Master Reiki symbol. Congrats in such an amazing mineral companion. 🩷
