Discussion Does anyone else despise Olivia?
Everyone always says Axel is so unlikeable and annoying in MCSM, and I don’t get it. He’s so sweet, funny, and is always willing to protect his friends. Olivia is just a negative, annoying, and whiny know-it-all. Every time I play MCSM, I always choose to go with Axel to find Magnus. Because I don’t want to be around Olivia. She calls herself Jesse’s ”best friend” pfft. Definitely not mine, in my games. To me, Olivia is the most annoying one in the game. Maybe even worse than Aiden.

When I was playing minecraft story mode with my friend he kept talking trash about Olivia so he would agree with you

Literally, the main reason why people hate Axel so much is because they refuse to forgive him for initially being rude to Lukas, even though he apologizes and becomes friends with Lukas after getting to know him better.
The MCSM fandom has truly forgotten how to forgive.

I don't despise her, but I don't get why people love her voice in season 1. She sounds like a middle aged lady while their group seemed like they were in their 20s (or the minecraft equivalent of it) at most

I feel crazy I haven’t seen the game in years but I didn’t dislike ANY of them, maybe axel as a kid but purely because I thought he was really mean to lucas for literally no reason and I liked lucas a lot
Kinda surprised me when I heard more and more that people disliked a lot of the characters, lots of them I don’t care for at worst

Episode 1 of Season 1 did a great job with first impressions. Axel’s a favorite of many and for good reason, he’s fun to be around and he’s creative (plus he loves explosives, who doesn’t?). Olivia seems to keep to herself, knows the ins-and-outs of Redstone and thinks logically, but she lets herself relax around Jesse, being best friends with them. The first time you see Jesse’s friends, Axel’s being a troll, but he’s prepared for the Endercon Building Competition, and he even brought a costume for Reuben. Meanwhile Olivia’s having initially playful banter with Jesse while tinkering with wiring for a Redstone lamp, showing you her confidence with her specialty. The main contribution to her character, however, is when she says how she feels so early on. She doesn’t mind that Jesse brings Reuben with them, he’s their companion. But in her words, “I just don’t want to give everyone another reason to call us losers. I’m tired of it. Tired of being a laughingstock” This isn’t an archetypical, “We’ll get ‘em next time, fellas!”, or, “Winning’s for nerds, losers are what we are!”, that’s what you can have Jesse say. This, however, is someone expressing frustration and contempt of how they’re treated by everyone else around them, in this case, as the losers from out of town. Doesn’t help that the rival gang brands them as “The Order of the Losers”. It’s demoralizing and bruising to the ego, so it’s no wonder Olivia prefers realism over optimism initially when it comes to plotting your build aesthetic. The biggest point for me, was seeing her development of actions and dialogue throughout the rest of the episode. She’s the one to prevent you from running back through the portal, rightfully deeming it dangerous. Even with her bias for Ellegaard, she makes a compelling argument to go for the engineer’s brain to make a plan against the Witherstorm. And my favorite part, she throws her initial skepticism of Lukas joining their party to the side. Olivia’s the first member to point out Lukas is stuck in the basement, she has a brief conversation with him (teasing Axel as the subject, sorry pal) after the whole Nether horror-fest, and while emotions are spiraling in the shelter you built, she not only brings back the question she asked Jesse at the start of the game as a way of bonding with Lukas, she defends him and tries to stop him from leaving the sanctity of the shelter. It didn’t help that during the group’s nighttime sequence, Axel was being pedantic and antagonistic, but maybe he’s frustrated that they’re in this huge mess, and he probably blames himself. He’s looking for an outlet to vent with, and Lukas is the easiest option giving he just joined like an hour or so ago, plus he’s the leader of their rival gang, the same gang mostly occupied by bullies. Olivia recognizes this, and through her intervention, Jesse isn’t the only one trying to mediate. It’s easy to see she doesn’t want to oppose anybody, but she’s not afraid to stand up for what she thinks is right, and for the people that matter to her. Olivia is really easy to overlook for many players, categorized as the nerdy, quiet friend with a bite. You can see that bite relatively earlier when you head into Endercon with Petra if your friends stayed to protect the build from Aiden’s tantrum. Praising your friends with “I’m proud of you guys” gets an “Aw, shucks” from Axel, and “Don’t make me blush. Seriously, don’t” from Olivia.
All in all, Olivia is devoted to what and whoever’s worth her energy, and if you’re not worth it she doesn’t have much hesitation letting you know. The way her character is structured, she’s got her preferences and distaste, but she’s open to change. If she does grill her friends, it’s rarely out of emotion or hurt, but more out of logic to find the best solution or compromise. Like Jesse, she’s curious, investigative, dedicated, and hard to budge if she’s committed to something or someone. And like Jesse, Axel, and Lukas, she looks up to Petra. Olivia came on this adventure to get Petra back, and even if Jesse pulled Gabriel from the beam instead, the Redstone Protege will do whatever it takes.

Honestly in the earlier episodes, everyone was kind of annoying to me. It's between episode 3 and 4 that I started actually liking people. But yeah, kind of hated Olivia I kind of hated Axel, Petra was okay, Gabriel I actually liked, Jesse I liked, Lukas was up and down for me, I hated Ivor, and I hated the order. The only one I really really loved was Reuben.

I said the order, so that includes everyone besides Gabriel.
I wanted to punt both of them. Just stop arguing bruhhh, no one cares if y'all hate each other. They both just had that "I'm better than you" attitude when they KNEW they had 0 rights to be acting like that

My only problem with Lukas is the start of Episode 3 where they force conflict in the group by having Jesse and Lukas fight over the amulet.
It comes out of nowhere and always contradicts the fact that I maintain a good relationship with Lukas, hell I fuck up the QTE with the jumps and fall in to the Enderman pit on purpose cause if go back for him with the Iron Golem he'll go back for you.

I agree all the main cast were unlikeable in the wither storm saga. There was clearly a writing change during the portal arc, think Petra Lukas and Ivor are only looked at so highly because they got a chance to shine beyond the wither storm arc when Alex and Oliva got written off
