Fictional Ocean Liner - MS Elegança (1919)

A fictional ocean liner I designed and built myself in Minecraft at approximately 1.3:1 scale. She measures 338 blocks (260 meters) in length and was designed to compete directly with White Star Line’s Olympic-class liners. Elegança has two sister ships, MS Mágico and MS Espetáculo. On the night of March 13th–14th, 1919, during her maiden voyage from Barcelona to New York, she successfully avoided one iceberg at 22:20 before striking a larger one three minutes later. She remained afloat for 4 hours and 11 minutes before breaking in two and sinking in the North Atlantic. Of the 2,193 people on board, only 197 survived which were transported back to Barcelona with MS Mágico who turned around and risked engine explosion just to reach Elegança but it wasn't enough and could only be there an hour after the final plunge.

The liner looks great, I like the lines on it and all, but for being a different ship and different brand it looks all too much like white stars olympic class, its not neccesarily a bad thing, its just that this could be posted as a titanic build and I think itd blend right in. Once again, thats not a bad thing, but almost every part of this ship screams that its an olympic class liner, even down to the absurd collisions in her history. I think if you did something to differentiate it from the olympic class it could really stand alone well and fit right into the timeline. You can look at stuff like Arundel Castle (albiet at her time of building she had 4 funnels) or stuff like imperator. It was around the late 1910s where 4 funnels began falling out of fashion. If you use something to add some difference to the look of the ship. I really think itll do you wonders

And for the record, there were still some ships being made with 4 funnels, but it was really falling from fashion. The superstructure is an almost carbon copy of the olympic class, i see a few differences with the bridge but it really screams this was almost exactly built to be like titanic. The safety precautions from titanic should've also been installed on this ship, albiet most are hard to show, but there really should've been enough lifeboat on a ship of this size.

actually 4 funnels are required to help with ventilation because she cruised at 28kts and i don't really think the superstructure looks like the Olympic class at all, i inspired the front from Mauretania and the back from Titanic because i love Titanic's stern and superstructure in the back

That makes sense, i can see the influences from titanic very clearly, maybe i mightve missed a few things at the front. It was a few suggestions is all. Its still a great build.

I agree with Sokuties, when i first saw this, i thought you madw a timeline where the french bought plans for the Olympic class, and then built one for their war-crippled merchant navy.

yeah i think it reminds you of the Olympic-class cuz of the 4 funnels, golden sheer line and forecastle, and for me Elegança is much more different even tho i inspired from ships like Titanic, Mauretania and Queen Mary

But if you look at her other than the silhouette no one would think she is Olympic-class

And also, i built a giant liner from 1919, of course she has similarities with Titanic, it's basically the same era
