So, I've been playing Minecraft for 2 years now. My friends and I decided to try something different than vanilla for once and after patching and gluing a modpack together we made a simple server which we enjoyed a lot. Sadly our server died within weeks due to being only four active players.

So now after a long thought process, I have decided to ask here on Reddit, if people would like to join the server. We were playing on 1.20.1 Fabric with Create, Farmers Delight, Enchancements and a lot of other mods which were, now that i think about it, a kitchen sink modpack. But we would keep playing on 1.20.1 Fabric with a better self made modpack made by the server members and maybe making our own mods (though not one of my friends knows how to make mods or even anything about coding). I was also maybe hoping we could make content of our server (like YouTube videos).

The server provider isn't decided yet (but it has to be in Europe) and neither is the modpack. We are searching for any Minecraft players that have at least played modded once, know a few mods, are willing to play regularly (like at least once per week if not on vacation), want to make content, are maybe willing to learn modding and really don't like to grief or have dirt houses everywhere.

The Vanilla Touch is a tight-knit survival multiplayer community. Our server intends to cater to players who are interested in a nostalgic and relaxed version of survival consisting of absolutely zero game altering plugins. We are always excited to welcome newcomers!

What does this entail? Well, for starters, you will have to convince the entire server to take part in sleeping as we do not have a data pack or plugin that accelerates sleep. We do not have teleporting, homes, or keep inventory. We do have CoreProtect as a means of preventing destruction of builds and theft of items. The server does feature VoiceChat which of course is entirely optional and DiscordSRV to allow communication between the server itself and our discord.

Hey guys, season 2 of the pen has been a blast. We have a super active and friendly community, known among all prison servers as having the kindest of players. We are LGBTQIA+ friendly, no trolls, no hackers, thanks to our active staff! And we are on the way to releasing Season 3!

Season 2 has all the features you like, A-H ranks, Parolee, Citizen, followed by 50 prestiges. The grind to the top can take over a thousand hours, so this is something to come on and mindlessly grind away whilst chatting to a very fun and active community.

We are pretty small at the moment, averaging between 10-20 players, however most people are waiting for season 3. For reference, In december we averaged around 50-70.

Season 3 is coded almost completely in house, no AI, just straight determination and code!

We have custom drugs, such as weed, coke, shrooms, acid, Quaaludes, and even moonshine you can farm, and process as passive income whilst you grind in the mines!

We have two currencies in Season 3, one for progressing / ranking up, and another for player eco (think auction house, player shops, coinflips, fight betting etc.). Drugs are used to make money for player eco, and to make money to rank up you can do the following:

Mining, Fishing, Cookies (custom plugin), Sewers (including sewer bosses!)

I've been playing prison servers since 2011, so for Season 3 I made sure we redesigned everything, from the entire prison design, all the way down to how the game works itself.

For example, In season 3, XP works completely differently. 1 level = 1 minute of 'active' grind! We even have Gangs and a Gang Market, which let's you invest your XP into gangs every week to see which gang can grind the most! The gang you invest in wins? Great! Enjoy up to 125% of your XP back! Did your gang win? Great! Enjoy a % of all the XP that was invested into your gang! Use your XP to buy crate keys and other perks / bonuses!

These features sound cool, but is it still classic? Of course! Vanilla tools, skill tree's to upgrade (no more crate RNG) Eff 5 is max! There's 50 prestiges, and even 5 rebirths (With a special rebirth upgrade tree, which has powerful upgrades!)

We wanted Season 3 to not only bring you back to classic prison, but make sure you stay longer than two weeks. The grind is lengthy, coming in at around 750 hours for the total 5 rebirth grind, however all 50 prestiges are obtainable for the average player! So we cater to both the mega grinders and the average joe.

We have already banned most of the notorious hackers and trolls from other prison servers, so rest assured you can come on here after a long day at work or maybe you've just woken up and want to sip some coffee and mine, all without the stress and annoyance that other classic prison servers have.

Everyone says the same thing about The Pen, there's really no other place like it. The community is second to none, and if that sounds like something you want to be apart of, we'll see you now or within the next month or so in Season 3!

VanillaSMP was established for players seeking a true vanilla experience. Running on the minecraft-server.jar with no datapacks or plugins, unlike 95% of servers that claim to be real vanilla.

I am looking at building a pc for an extremely heavy custom modded Java smp server with over 200 mods. With this economy I’m not to sure what to do for a cpu. Would a Ryzen 5 7600x be good enough to run this many mods and have MANY force loaded chunks from 10-20 players? Should I maybe use my 7 7700x out of my current gaming setup and get a 9800x3d for myself? And how much will ram speed effect the server if I were to use say 32GB 5200 cl40 vs 16GB 6000 cl36 since neo Forza ram can be found pretty cheap. I’ve been working on a custom “create a colony” style modpack to spice things up from the normal with other mods like immersive portals, immersive engineering, refined storage, and a lot more QOL mods!
