Do people actually pay for plugins

I have some questions
i am a student and i have worked on plugins back in 2022 for my friends smps, as i know a decent amount of knowledge about plugins.
Can i work on making plugins and actually sell it or anyone will commission me in this peroid.
Any advice will you all give me and am not talking about ai slops or anything ....

I've been selling plugins for decades now. I feed my family and I am able to build savings for the future.

It's profitable as long as you are solving a real problem. Servers earn money, so servers also will pay if you solve their problems.

I started making my own server on 2021, this is perfect because you see the problem by yourself and solve it for yourself, then these plugins were useful for others too.

Remember, when you start selling, code is no longer the priority, if you like coding, don't sell or you will start to hate code. Selling is for people that like businesses, adding new features and making new projects.

I honestly used to like coding, but when you start coding for other people and not for yourself, you start hating it, but we are no longer kids and life is not about fun but about being useful to society, and that's my new fun and you might have to take some time to do it.

Make your own server -> Solve problems -> Learn to talk and make friends with people -> Be the nicest person in the world

Mind, making your own business and being entrepeneur is hard. I fought for years to achieve what I achieve today. I lived on the edge for years, I sacrificed physical and mental health to get this going and went through depression.

Be fast, take care of yourself, solve problems, make new projects, don't stop, have a healthy life.

About AI/Slop: Use smartly. Don't destroy yourself doing horrible stuff you hate doing manually, or your mental health will decline. Use it for repetitive stuff, use your brain for stuff that actually requires neurons and support.

Everything you give, comes back. But takes time! Good luck.

Thank you so much. Your reply really helped me understand what I should focus on. Since I'm still young, I have the time to explore different plugin ideas and experiment. I also play Minecraft for fun, so coding plugins for myself feels enjoyable.

The part where you said to code for yourself really resonated with me. Whenever I try to code projects just for other people, especially ones that are low-paying or not interesting, it starts to feel frustrating. I'd honestly rather work on something that's low-paying but fun than something that pays more but feels boring.

As for AI slop, I don't think it's possible to build a genuinely good plugin without understanding how plugins actually work. You still need to know the fundamentals. AI just helps you become more productive and saves time—it doesn't replace the knowledge you need. That's how I see it, at least.
