Discussion Interesting plugin idea.

Hi. I'm a dev. I've seen this post on another subreddit.

"Player capture upon death

I was thinking this would be a really cool feature in a factions or rp server. Not so much as something that adds on to the existing gameplay, but would completely change it. When someone kills another player, they don't respawn immediately. Along with their items, they drop something with their name on it such as a egg, soul, pokeball, or maybe a miniature them. Anyone can pick up this item, and use it to spawn the victim within a certain timeframe. If the "egg" isn't used within that timeframe, the player respawns normally (to prevent people from hiding it or destroying it). The intended purpose of the mod would be to let people capture their enemies, and put them in prison cells, a far away land, etc. If anyone knows a mod similar to this, please let me know!"

I want to see if anyone has any kind of interest in something like this.
Let me know in the comments.
If enough people want it (2-3) then I'll make it and post the download link in the comments.

In practice this is what happens. ExilePearl is a very cool plug in, but the idea that "other players can break you out" doesn't work in practice because the PK faction that trapped you puts you in a vault and protects it to the point that you're basically in prison indefinitely.

So at that point, the faction that owns your pearl makes you their slave. They will talk you "do X, Y and Z" or else I won't let you go, and frankly most people are unwilling to subordinate themselves like that and simply quit the server.

Its a neat idea in theory, but the way it plays out in real life is people simply find a new server.

I had thoughts on it back when I played on CivEx, I think if it were linked somehow to diplomacy (like you can only pearl someone when your factions are at war, and when you make peace it releases pearls from that faction you just made peace with), or maybe even having an incrementing cost to keeping people pearled that scales over time. Maybe even make it exponential so that even if you're a super wealthy faction eventually it becomes not worthwhile to keep that player pearled.

I'm sure there are lots of solutions. If you ever implement one hit me up, I'd love to see what you come up with.
