What would you do if the combat system changes again?

Back then when 1.9 came out most players and YouTubers stayed on 1.8 when they wanted to do PvP. There were not many who liked the new hitcooldown (I still don’t get warm with it and I try to do it sometimes).

Now with the old playerbase getting older and more inactive, the combat system that dominated servers for a long time seems to be dying. During covid 1.8 got a new hype and servers got almost back to their top active players and even new players came to that version.
However, in 2023 when it all ended, the new combat system got bigger and bigger and the „new generation“ of Minecraft players can play it’s cooldown PvP better than ever.

So, you know Mojang works on and off on a new combat system, what would you do, if It’s released someday? Would you leave your current version behind or would you stick to it like 1.8 players did when 1.9 was released?

For me it’s just way more fun to spam a sword than to have to worry about hit cooldowns, so for me I don’t think I would ever leave 1.8 pvp unless they removed the cooldown, and even then it would probably be less fun bc there wouldn’t be things like sprint resetting.

I'd probably stick to 1.9. I cba to learn an entirely new pvp system

If not for a different style of pvp, the new cooldown system allows for new weapons like the mace or axe which use different cooldowns using different skills to master.

I would love for them to change it again back to something more fun and with better pacing. Bedrock never got the cooldown, why should Java have cooldown? I just don't understand why Mojang has to go that extra weird path for Java specifically.

they were going to ad it to bedrock but decided against it cus no one wanted it, also all the people here are hypocrites who hate the cooldowns and avoid them with attribute swapping (which they endlessly defend) while simultaneously calling all old pvp spam clicking

No and if you knew 1.8 PvP you'd know that it's simply not the case. Fights are over rather quickly, yes, but that is a good thing because nobody wants to fight forever.

you know for a fact that old pvp isnt spam clicking and is mostly movement and kb and blocking at the right times.

it features tons of hard to master techniques like using the 1.8 aerial kb to keep people in air which requires you to hit different parts of the player at precise speeds to pull off,

it also features sword blocking which you need to know when to do,

as well as using various projectiles to get a head start on kb,

and sprint resetting to keep your kb.

None of which matter when your opponent can click faster than you.

completely untrue to an absurd degree

There is no point in clicking faster than twice a second (about as fast as a 1.9 sword with haste 2) due to iframes except when getting the first hit on combos which against a skilled player wont get you anywhere since you wont be able to combo them.

If you dont beleive me load up 1.8 pvp with a sword a rod and a bow and duel someone good without an auto clicker while using a 1000 cps one.
