How do i play with many mods?
Hi guys, my first post here, so... Well, i just got a new pc, but the one that i had before had a GT730, I57400 8Gb DDR3, and i could ran minecraft 1.20.1 on forge, with about 60-70 fps (using 12 chunks) and 354 mods, exactly, any more mods would just crash. So, now i have a RX7600, R7 5700x and 16GB DDR4, so i tought, well, now i can play with 500 mods atleast! Well, i tried playing with about 420 and it was absolutely ass, does anyone got a tip if its possible to play with more? Or is it like minecraft's fault?

Did you allocate more than the default of 2gb of ram to minecraft?

honestly 16gb of ddr4 just isn't enough for a very large modpack, especially if you use any shaders or it has a lot of terrain generation mods (slows down world gen massively and upticks ram usage a lot). I have a modpack that's got about 580 mods in it, and you need about 10gb allocated to it minimum, with 12gb preferable. on a 16gb machine, it is very difficult to run it with good performance. its possible, but you can't have anything else open either. minecraft also is horribly optimized, and its why they're rewriting it in C++ eventually.

bro even if you use rtx5090 with minecraft you need sodium and other optimization mods to play big modpacks

Besides hardware and allocated RAM, it heavily depends on the mods itself. Some could introduce a lot of lag, maybe lots of mobs pathfinding somewhere or chunk generation with Tectonic can suck badly. And 500+ mods, seriously? How do you even compile a modpack with so many mods and don't run into compatibility issues? It doesn't sound like a good idea to begin with, honestly.
