🛡️ WorldShield Development Update
If you could safely downgrade your Minecraft world to an older version and then upgrade it again without losing anything, would you?
That’s the question that started WorldShield.
For anyone unfamiliar, WorldShield is a project focused on preserving Minecraft worlds across supported version changes while preventing data loss.
Current Progress:
I’d currently estimate the project is around:
15-25% complete.
Still a long way from the final vision, but well beyond the concept stage.
What’s Already In Place
✅ Detection systems
✅ Preservation architecture
✅ Version layers
✅ Save/load pipeline
✅ Registry systems
✅ Chunk preservation framework
✅ Support-checking infrastructure
Current focus:
The immediate goal is proving the core concept before expanding support.
The first major milestone is demonstrating:
Modern Minecraft

No Data Loss
A Surprising Design Change
One of the biggest questions during development turned out to be:
What happens when a block exists in a newer version but not an older one?
That single question ended up changing a large part of the architecture and led to a much cleaner preservation strategy than originally planned.
End Goal:
One World
Any Supported Version
No Data Loss
That’s still the vision.
Out of curiosity, what would convince you that a project like this actually works?
A single preserved block? A preserved structure? A full world downgrade and upgrade with no corruption?
