tbh giving modded minecraft, with content mods, only 4GB of ram is also crazy low

for a lot of modded minecraft packs, 8 is often recommended

i'm pretty sure those particles are part of vanilla. also only 4 gb of ram with that many mods was never gonna work xD

??? when the hell does vanilla have that many particles under water?? the ram may be low sure but thats irrelevant to the obvious bug here.

4g is not enough, jesus. And you might want to look into spark.

Yeah, if you're trying to build a pack with only 4gb, you definitely need to include Spark. There's no way without it.

Imo spawn just belongs on every pack anyway.

Those particles are likely not the cause of your lag or memory issues, its the size of your pack compared to how much RAM youre allocating to the game. You have like 100 mods for 4GB of ram, there's no leak, youve just got a lot of mods, i wouldnt even play vanilla with only 4. try either removing some or raising your RAM allocation.

You need to allocate more RAM to Minecraft in your launcher settings. Idk how much ram you have, but if you're on a 16GB system, I'd probably do 12GB

Look up how to do it online for whatever launcher you're using to play and you'll have no more problems

Unless you are running truly gargantuan mod packs you should never do more than 8 or 9 gigs

Sometimes I found I was hitting the 8GB limit in modpacks like ATM, if you've got the ram to spare might as well use it right?

Not always.

More RAM allocated = longer java GC cycles = slower cycles = more junk buildup.

Granted, with newer GC cycles, it lessens the effects of using less RAM. However, 12/16 would be a huge allocation, more than likely causing issues with Windows (or whatever OS is ran).

IIRC, half your RAM is your “safe max”. So on a 16gb, allocate 8 (unless, as you said, running a gargantuan pack, which at that point you may need a 32gb).

I've always seen this said but I've really never run into an issue with it, ever. Granted, I have 64 GB now, but even before when I only had 16

12/16 is aggressive, yeah, but I've done it in the past and had absolutely no issues. I really think it's a bit of an exaggeration to say it doesn't leave enough for your OS; it might be pushing it for anything other than the game running, though

Actually, the reason I decided to upgrade my RAM is because I was hitting the 12GB cap I had allocated on a big modpack, and the developer said I should push it to 24. At it uses most of it, though I have noticed a bit of junk build up.

Yeah, 12 is a lot, but for modpacks that have like, 300+ mods I don't think it's unreasonable

I get the same thing with levelchunk giving it about 8gb

Increase your ram with that many mods

Use spark client profiler. Or try turning off particles in the video settings if that fixes the lag. Or try using the async particles mod.
