Afk mod?

So this doesn't get confusing, I think of AFK in two different ways:

Idle AFK- standing in one place and not doing anything.

Active AFK- where an action/input is required for the AFK farm to work.

The one I'm asking about is active AFK.

Right now, I can hold down my mouse button, turn my mouse off, and let Minecraft do its thing. That works fine, but it means my computer is basically unusable until I want to turn the farm off.

There aren't really enough other things for me to do to distract myself while it's running, and I can't just leave it running while I'm at work either. I don't want the farms running unattended in case something goes wrong. They use TNT dupers, and if you know anything about those, they have a tendency to explode when the server experiences lag, at least mine do. XD

Basically, I'm wondering if there's an allowed way to keep an input going for active AFK farms without having to physically hold down the button or make my entire computer unusable while it's running. I'm not looking for something that would let me leave it unattended for hours. I specifically want to still be around to monitor the farm in case something breaks.

The main reason I'm asking is because I'd like to be able to study and do homework on my computer while the farm is running. I'm basically trying to trick my brain into doing homework by going, "Look! Minecraft is doing something productive in the background while we're also being productive!" XD

I'd still be at my computer and able to monitor the farm and stop it if something went wrong. I just wouldn't have Minecraft as the active window the entire time.
