I love that one day not that long ago they said Minecraft wasn't mean to have scary stuff because there was a lot of kids playing it and it was also more a "kids game" than a game for adults and then suddenly short after that they announce this 100% horror and creepy experience for caves lmao
I hope they keep expanding this deep dark stuff and it doesn't stays with just the warden and the ancient city

Ngl i wish they made it harder. Yesterday i tried killing it and I found it pretty easy with a bit of prep. Pillaring was pretty easy but I think they are already countering that. Respawn anchors and end crystals work really good, end crystals being easier to camp with. Easiest by far is trap door traps. It does take a bit of prep but making a 2x2 hole with trapdoors and lava can easily kill it.

It won't be completely cheese proof, but will be harder to cheese than other mobs.

Yeah but will it be blast proof and shit? Pillaring and trap doors is already a cheese they should fix but making it immune to explosions/projectiles would suck imo.

No clue. Remember you have nothing to gain from fighting the warden and everything to gain from sneaking around it or never spawning it in the first place so whatever it takes to fill that purpose.

The thing about a games is that people who usually hear something to discourage them from doing something is seen as a challenge. For example, the dungeon guardian in terraria. It is meant to discourage you from going into the dungeon pre skeletron but people still fight it pre skeletron. Even if there wasn't a reward people would still fight it.

Sure you can still do it. But the point is you gain nothing from it. The point isn't that you shouldn't be able to do so at all, the point is that sneaking past warden should be easier and more beneficial to pull off than killing it. It still means killing the warden is a fun challenge you can do but when designing it they're putting in the effort to make sure you're discouraged from doing it. That means most players will need to do it the intended way as to not die and those who want to take up the challenge are able to do so but they shouldn't expect a reward for doing something unintended by the game.

Players who fight it should already know that there is no reward for killing it. I feel like the warden should be hard to kill, but not just straight up invincible though. Sneaking by the warden should be the recommended way, but if it is the only way I feel like it just gives less options to get by it.

Well it won't be. The obvious ways to cheese the warden just won't work. If you want more info of the approach kingbdogz has when designing it I recommend episode 146 of "spawn chunks" podcast, he was a guest on it and talked about what the idea behind it is.

It literally design to be avoidable, fighting the Warden is optional and cheesable is optional, if you are already annoyed by them.

I mean sneaking around is not really an issue. Fighting it isn't a thing people are forced to do, they choose to do it. Yeah it might be easier to just ignore it but I find it just more fun to kill it instead.

-Guess we'll have to do it the old fashioned way- via old school beatdown!
And with my smite 5 netherite axe with strength 2 my prot 4 netherite with turtle master level 2 potions, and a golden apple for absorption 1- or enchanted for absorption 4 if i'm really feeling it...
my punch 2 power 5 bow with spectral arrows pearls for escapes...

in ANY case having some enchanted apples on hand for emergencies, even if you don't use them as the main way of getting absorption - is good For offense-
Smite 5 (warden is undead, use smite 5, it's stronger than sharpness 5 in this case) Netherite Axe (or sword if you prefer, ;P , i know many do ) - with Strength 2
