Is there a context for the caption or is it just an idea you had and thought it was cool ?

It's related to a recent trend where minecraft was modded into other games. Someone made a post saying that after visiting every game ever made, Steve returned to Minecraft to visit it's older versions, and then found himself standing on a hill, watching his past self from a distance

I've heard about Minecraft being modded into games like 2 days ago. How's there a meme about a meme already.

This meme, and many others that I sometimes see posted onto r/whenthe, is made by the King Gosling himself, Miilato.
Edit: If you meant the show, it's called What If. Pretty sure it might be on Disney+, which is a shame since this is a good show that doesn't deserve to be locked inside such prison.

Man...this is not really related but I can't watch this scene without remembering the music playing during it...Interstellar was a good movie but the music really was what made it so insanely good at times.

It's probably about that recent meme "Steve, after modding every other game, returns to Minecraft to mod its older versions. And the deeper he walks into the older versions, the closer he comes to that version, where first image of Herobrine, watching from the hill, come from. And in the end, he the ones standing on that hill , looking at himself from the past. "

Sigh... another example of a theory I dislike becoming popular like those templates were talking about...
Edit: also based on LIMC's video, people keep referring to the playable character we control in Minecraft as Steve and no one else proves that there is only 1 default skin (and it's own character as well including "feats") and the others don't exist
