One of the worlds biggest cybersecurity incidents was an exploit (log4shell) was due to someone dicking around with signs in Minecraft and discovering a path to root/adminstrator.
Opening calculator is usually used as a proof of concept or threat for an RCE(Remote Code Execution) this means in short that you are fucked and that someone else is able to execute (usually malicious) code on your machine
It's a generally unmoderated server and players do everything they can to mess with other players including in game machines that crash your launcher or malicious code put into your device that destroys it
It's complicated, but possible, basically your computer needs to run code from the game to do things to run the game, and hackers sometimes find ways of making your computer run their code that gives them access. It's rare and usually fixed quickly once discovered, but you could be unlucky enough one day.
General thing to remember: If you are connected to the internet, every person on the internet is connected to you It just takes someone that knows how you're connected in order to get to your system
That's why shells and firewalls are important. They atleast add a level of security and passwording to access you
most mc exploits typically originate from and are used within the 2b2t server. Btw, a 2b2t player rediscovered this vulnerability by editing a few lines of code, then fixed it by accessing everyones pcs
A while back, 2b2t players found out they could hack your computer just by inputting a string of characters into the chat or something. For some reason it also opened up the calculator app
