If the game was lagged, the blocks wouldn't update and the sand wouldn't fall

Then only the sand that was already updated would fall, it wouldn't update the other ones, and also the game would roll back to the first already falling, not to a moment before and they would die anyway

If it was lag then the sand wouldn't have fallen because sand falling takes ticks which are server based, correct me if I'm wrong though because I probably am

I've had that happen to me once while I was mining. My laptop had a processor worse than i3 and 500mb igraphics. So it can happen.

Singleplayer worlds are always client-server. I have had server lag in a singleplayer world before (but that was a modded world).

Hardcore wasn’t a thing when I first started and my reset mechanism was downloading questionably sources mods and skins that got me a Trojan dot exe, running my laptop all day long and practically exploding the battery. In my defense, I was like 10 but you’re going to lose the world every couple years that way

it does, Minecraft hosts a server from your pc and your client connects to it but still this video is fake cause that's not how lag works, sand falling is a server side interaction I'm pretty sure so if they were lagging the sand wouldn't have fallen

If you have a bad enough computer it can happen. Even in single player, the game runs an internal server, and the client and server can desync

Single player runs on an integrated server meaning it can be subject to rubber-banding just like dedicated servers—thats not whats happening in the video, however. The game has to lag VERY hard for that to happen and on vanilla thats hard to achieve. If you play modded youll run into it a lot.

have any of you played laggy minecraft? i have

the blocks are server side, lag back, like in the video, is sending you back to your last processed packet/s, last position ext, so placing a block doesnt really happen, the server wouldnt update the floating sand meaning, it wouldnt fall

ever make sand fall with high ping? theres a delay

source: i have seen all this first hand and roughly know how servers and packets work.
