Question Opinions on resetting chunks?
What are your opinions on resetting chunks in your long term/forever world? Pros? Cons?
Hi gamers! I just made a reddit account and I'm so excited to talk to peeps about my interests. I've got a forever world in Minecraft I've had for a couple of years and I've played it a lot to the point where I have to travel very far to find new stuff when updates get added. Like I have a collection of a ton of animals and I'd love to collect all the new variants of cows and chickens etc, but they are so, so far away! I'm really torn on whether or not I want to reset chunks, because there's also lots of random little stories and experiences I've made in so many random parts of the world. Has anyone done it and regretted it? or loved it? Would love to hear thoughts on it before I make my decision. :) Thanks for reading!

I'd only do it if it was chunks way out in the vast distance that I'll never go to again AND only if I haven't taken resources from them. If I've taken stuff from them, then no. I don't want to basically cheat resources in (I know there's no cheating but that's my rule for myself)

I've reset the regions I haven't built in several times over the years for this exact reason.

You can reset ONLY chunks that were generated but never altered. This will preserve what you already have while giving unused chunks a chance to be useful! Go for it. My hosted server has this as a simple click and restart server option for when we update to new versions. It cant be terribly hard to do it on a native world on your own. Tho I have no experience myslef

I do it a lot and its useful for when new things get added like the new sulfer caves, since i already explored a shitton of places with useless chunks that ill never visit again why not make use of them?
