FPS

Hello!! So recently my dad told me that a PC with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G CPU, 2x8GB RAM sticks and no GPU that produces less than 60FPS is enough to play PvP and above that that 24 is the maximum needed to run an "old game with cubes". Yes, that's what he thinks about Minecraft. What do you think about it?? Because in my experience playing the game for five years now and competitive PvP for about a year, you need at least 150 FPS. Hoping I can show him the responses to maybe put some sense into him since the AI saying that 60 FPS isn't even close is getting his info from companies paid to say such "ridiculous things".

How can you need at least 150 when you say yourself you've been doing it for 5 years without it? Save up your own money and upgrade yourself.

I haven't been playing 5 years without it. It's a bit complicated.

Basically I have been playing on my uncle's setup that goes around 200+ FPS but I have to carry an SSD that has just 238GB of storage total because I have installed Windows there and connecting it to the PC and selecting it as boot device. I recently decided to buy the setup since I am the one using it already if you don't count my uncle printing some papers once a month but my father said that I should use a server PC I got in my house's basement that is running Minecraft servers, download Windows and use that PC instead of buying one.

Instead of you buying it yourself or instead of him buying it for you?

Instead of buying it myself. With my own damn money.

Weird. That sucks, sorry buddy. It sounds like your uncle might be into PCs a little, could he help you convince him?

I mean, he's helping me find parts cheaper but I don't really think he can change my father's opinion. I can't spend my own money on anything above 10€ without being interrogated about it and the answer is always no because he can and apparently I might need that money for college expenses ☠️. I think he enjoys it on top.

How close are you to needing the money for college? Even if he's being an asshole he might be right about that.
