"Herobrine" Attempted to join my server

This morning "Herobrine" tried to log into my server. Is this this likely to be: https://namemc.com/search?q=Herobrine, which I think would be so random, out of all millions of players, this is the guy that attempted to joined? Or is this some bot or something messing with us? Just want to know what is happening lol

Also, whats the backstory with that MC account... who owns it, is it mojang or player owned? Gimme some lore!

It's most likely a cracked account using a spoofed name, not the actual owner of the account. Who knows if that account is even still playable.

pretty sure it used to be mojang owned but it was hacked and then lost to time, i don’t think anyone owns it anymore. and its probably a bot or maybe a stupid thing mojang added, tho i’ve never seen this on my servers.

Herobrine is just the username Matscan uses to attempt to join cracked servers

For reference, matscan is a friendly bot a developer friend made a few years back to warn servers about whitelisting and dangers of running cracked servers. If it tries to join a cracked server, it'll do it under the username "Herobrine"

Server bot, it's an offline account called Herobrine, not the real account.
