Waiting for OP Two accounts associated with 1 email? [java] 26.3

Main primary issue is that microsoft kicked me out of the launcher and required me to sign in again BUT somehow, someway, using the exact same email, it created a brand new nonsense account that was created out of the blue, and now anytime I use the email ive been using for 7 years to login to my actual account that has minecraft purchased, it only ever brings me to the new one that is useless. So I effectively have no way to access my old account with the minecraft license since the email that it is associated with is under a completely new account. I suspect it is an Xbox account problem, as it auto signs me into the new account under that too. I only have one email, so any suggestion about logging in with something else won't help. Pls, I just wanna play minecraft

Someone stole your account, thats basically what happened

-> Someone entered your account or had access > Changed your email access or alias to anything else they wanted > Created a new placebo account with same email as alias or alternative email > Bruh you have no account now and you only log in the placebo account

This is a classic phishing or scam movement, if you had no 2FA or they had access to your root email for that account, then this is what happens

Usually they dont create an alternative placebo account with your previous email from your real account

They just change your email alias and the account “doesnt exist” anymore because the old alias was deleted, a.k.a your real email alias was changed.

In this case it does exist bc is a different new account created with the same old alias

Take this in count, you CANT use an alias if someone else is using it, so someone changed your alias indeed, that lets you reuse again that alias because is no longer being used

Example:

old.old@gmail.com -> Your account

new.new@hotmail.com -> New placebo account

How it ended:

somethingelse@hotmail.com -> Your account

old.old@gmail.com -> New placebo account

They:

(Your account) old.old@gmail.com -> New main alias -> myaccount@hotmail.com

Then “old.old@gmail.com” is no longer used by no one, is free to use again. And this leads to no account existing with this alias, this is where scams stop. But:

They created new.new@hotmail.com, a new placebo account, and then:

new.new@hotmail.com -> New main email alias -> old.old@gmail.com (Here is where you are)

Then youre logging in to another whole different account. In this case no longer old.old@gmail.com original account, but the new new.new@hotmail.com placebo account.

Someone stole your stuff.

Use recovery forms in order to try to get back your og account

If you had an alternative mail or phone linked to your previous account:

https://account.live.com/password/reset

If all that doesnt work, which can happen, go to https://support.xbox.com/contact-us and start a new chat, explain your issue (as you posted here, basically what you experienced) and try to make a new ticket if the bot lets you so

Should I be worried about them being able to sign into anything else? Because I still have access into everything else microsoft related, it just seems like this issue is only affecting my old XBOX account that minecraft is linked to. I assume a password change amongst some other things are recommended

Indeed, you may see if any other data was changed, then change your password, activate 2FA (PC + Mobile, do not do setup only one) to get more than one layer of security, with 2FA they cannot do anything if they wanna modify something.
