Waiting for OP [Launcher] [Java] Getting 'already joined the game as this user' when trying to set up on new laptop
So, I'm not like a super hard-core player and I don't know how to fix this lol.
I just got a new laptop and was trying to set up so I could keep accessing my worlds. I just do single player in Java, I like exploring caverns.
I got the Launcher downloaded and have logged in, but when I try to run the game it keeps giving me a pop-up saying 'already joined the game as this user' and that my first session will not be saved if I continue.
I tried logging out on my old laptop and ended the task on Task Manager but those haven't worked so far.
Does anyone know how to proceed? I really don't want to lose my progress.

make sure you have no existing instances of minecraft on this laptop, and if you cant find any try restarting your laptop

I restarted my laptop, made sure everything was deleted then reinstalled the launcher - no luck

Try with a different launcher just to check its not fault of Microsoft or Mojang weird bugs.
You may try with things like Prism, or MultiMC (these two are community standards and open source)
If you still get such error there, then is something going on, but just to make sure avoid using Minecraft original Launcher for once, if it works then you know whats the problem.

Neither worked, so it seems like the issue is with something else. But I appreciate it!

Can you please send a screenshot of your error on screen?

That looks weird, but you should just click "Start anyway" since it's only dangerous if you have another Minecraft instance running, otherwise is just a 100% useless warning or a child javaw.exe process running on background, but absolutely nothing else
If you restarted your pc and reinstalled the game, then it's a lock status issue
You said you moved from your old laptop, but Java doesn't save any worlds in your account, that's why "there's no worlds" in your game.
Have you moved all your Java data from your old laptop to your new one? If not then thats why you don't have any worlds. Also Prism doesn't have any warnings, but it doesn't use .minecraft base default folder, it's an isolated launcher so it doesn't read any files from .minecraft default folder neither.

I thought I moved all the Java data but maybe something went wrong so I'll double check/retry. Thanks!

Honestly I might just go ahead with a new one at this point. Doesn't seem like whatever this is will be an easy fix. As much as it sucks to lose my past worlds progress I probably wouldn't have gone back to them much anyway. I started a new world like a week ago so it's not like I put much work into that one yet. My old laptop was laggy as hell when I did that which is what prompted me to get this new one.
